I DEFINITELY shared that worry, but I found it on an invite only forum that has a track record of clean isos and modded OS'es, and any uploaded files are scanned by multiple anti-malware/viruses. Plus I could see the dude FBConan had a long very active history there. He + someone else used to make Phoenix Lite, but other dude wanted to get greedy, so he ditched him and went solo. Now he just takes donations from Patreon, and makes downloading easy from his own website.

Multiple displays are always a shit show. Once a year I try out a current distro, and within a week I'm back on Windows. This time was Bazzite, and the exact same problems as always, both Plasma and Gnome, just last week. After all this time windows still don't remember their size and position, and right click context menus randomly break and show up on the opposite monitor. Go and look up the bugs, and I can see they've been a problem for like 5-15 years.

If you give up on Linux for the time being, I HIGHLY recommend looking up Windows Xlite. It is a highly modified Windows 10 or 11 iso. They even have the option to install without Windows Defender, its such a breath of fresh air, almost feels like being back on XP or 7.

If you go to it's steam install folder: Hell Divers 2 -> tools -> GGSetup.exe and gguninst.exe

Their explanation for it makes sense though. They were running into the problem that a player could cheat and progress their games faster, etc. Since HD2 is essentially a MASSIVE, single DnD campaign that every player is a part of, those cheaters would break the campaign progress and ruin it for every single other player.

They also include shortcuts to install and uninstall only the anticheat. So you can remove it immediately once you finish playing.

Riot's Vanguard is the only one that needs to start with boot, and always run in the background. Others can initialize and close when the game is done, IIRC. Which is why they can work with proton/wine.

Riot's games can only be played with their own launcher, so no steam. They give a big message about "now installing vanguard, our anticheat," then inform you to reboot to finish the install, since vanguard is the only ring 0 anticheat that puts itself into the kernel start up, always running.

To be fair, if they were typical RBG mouse and keyboard, and you used the brands software to change their settings, it blocked that software. Those programs were absolute dog shit in terms of security. I have no idea if it forced them to make better software, or Riot just started to allow them. Regardless it's all pointless because Vanguard has been defeated. Imagine making ring 0 anticheat that loads on boot, and it still isn't good enough, fucking LoL pun intended.

Even their middle tier quality CD level HiFi 16bits@44100Hz sounds sooo much better than max quality Spotify. Which is also included in their now 1 single price plan. Spotify maxes as 320 kbps, and an average lossless CD quality is around 1000 kbps.

That app is pretty pointless IMO. I've been a budget audiophile for a little while now, and one of the features a music player needs is to be able to output the music at the correct bit/format @ the correct sample rate. Ex: 24 bit @ 96000, which is the highest quality a song can be from Tidal.

Pipewire has the ability to adjust and match the sample rate on the fly, so that no resampling happens and you get "bit perfect" playback.

Since that tidal-hifi uses chromium for its DRM to allow the max quality, it is permanently set at 48000. Basically no music on Tidal is 48k, basically every song is at least HiFi quality at 16@44100, and then a lot of recent music is HiRez capable of "up to 24@96000."

So you're basically resampling every single song somewhere along the audio pipeline, before it reaches your external music hardware, like a DAC/AMP stack.

Phil Tippett's Mad God. It took the man like ~30 years to make the most fucked up, fever dream of a stop motion movie. I don't know what would be worse, watching it sober or high on anything.

I like to imagine, that like Stephen King, he did some wild drugs. But instead of writing a book and moving on, he just kept getting absolutely zooted for 30 years until this movie was done. Because that is the only reason that would justify that movie's creation.

Recently read the original book by Mary Shelly. His creating the monster in the book is super casual. Basically like 1 page of "he finally figured out the right methods and animated the creature to life.....Moving on, he was immediately disgusted!"

I just started to daily Bazzite, which is Kinoite but made for gaming. Can confirm it is so reliable it's crazy. Best fresh install experience by a mile.

So I'm not the only one who feels lost with Bazzite, even after years tinkering with other distros?!

I need to sit down and try to wrap my head around the file structure, it just feels completely different except for the home dir.

There are non-scam companies on TikTok. I don't use it but it's easy enough to see. People use it to hustle their marketing and advertising, some people even hire to fill that role.

First example that comes to mind is from years ago, but a dude started and grew a business in Miami for selling exotic fruits that are unique to Florida to anyone online. Something like $100 for a seasonal, shipped overnight, cooler of exotic fruits with info/instructions. He got a girlfriend and she made their popularity explode using TikTok. The best way I can describe her videos is making it seem like you're bougie if you subscribe to their seasonal boxes monthly.

Whatever she did worked though. Not a scam, you pay and get the fruit.
