  • me after upvoting all of them

  • Ridiculously bad analysis anyway. I'm not a military strategist, but historically I would say "losing territory" and "attacks on the capital" are exactly the things that drive a country to the negotiation table, along with "having your oil-based economy fucked up" which Ukraine has also been doing. Damn, it's almost like Ukraine is trying to force Russia to negotiate by causing damage and taking things from them which they could then use in the negotiation.

  • I'd never of heard of this game before but in the last like 2 days it has been everywhere. All over Lemmy, but also in several recommendations on YT, and a few Mastodon posts. They are marketing the fuck out of this one, huh?

  • Haha, careful with the paraphrase! I only said "that time!"

You too right though, I think Snoop at the Olympics has him on my mind again! I could have said "a time" though, true.

  • Fat Earth Theory! Proof that we live on two huge discs, with a gooey and delicious doublestuft cream center between them! Spaceships are powered by milk! The Great Dunk is upon us!

  • dicks out for the vengeful spectre of harambe

  • Toot toot

  • More of a shart post at best

  • Usually Julian is the one drinking, I think Rick is more likely to give it a toke!

  • Since even the smartest Pokémon is one pokeball away from a life of permanent servitude and poke-battle, I'm going to say that their poke-rights situation isn't great.

  • Listen, I've been to Milwaukee...

  • The struggles of the Snow Queen are a fun recurring gag on Oglaf, but I love anytime the foul mouthed inventors (gnomes? dwarves?) show up.

  • My last car was named Alice after the "Alice in Chains" mix cd that was left in the cd changer when I bought it.

My current car isn't named, because I think it might be cursed and I don't want to give any more power to it.

  • I went on a tear at one point trying to really understand, rigorously (I'm a computer and maths person by trade and training), what dialectics are and how, specifically, the material dialectic (the foundation of Marxist thought!) should work.

I was a bit dissapointed to understand that they can't really be "rigorous" in that fashion and that they're really more of a philosophical and rhetorical tool. I do still get a lot of use from them, and in discussions with other people the framework of the dialectic ("Ok, what if we took these two ideas and put them on opposite ends of a spectrum, how does that look?") is very useful for explaining and expounding upon ideas.

  • Except for all the actual hatred that drives the machine, and not wanting to give any more attention to those whack jobs, I will admit that a sitcom following the bumbling, doomed to fail presidential campaign of the worst candidate in history could be really funny.

  • There's no such thing as perfect security of course, but in this case it's because having my phone number and address isn't the same as having my phone. So short of a SIM clone or something like that, the MFA on those accounts still adds one layer of protection. There's also "security" questions and, protip, the answer to what high school I went to is not which high school I went to. It's just another, different pass phrase.

I'm just not worth the trouble to beat all the extra layers of security when there's millions of people who's money is far easier to get at.

  • It's a massive pain in the ass, but every American should freeze their credit with the 3 agencies. Their websites are shit, they will sign you up for credit card ads no matter what you click, and every bit of the process will make you seethe with rage at how fucked and incompetent the whole system is. But go do it anyway.

I did it last year after the state DMV was hacked and lost every personal detail for basically everyone in the state who drives. It was real nice not having a loan taken out in my name a few months later when Experien called me out of the blue to ask if I really wanted to unfreeze.

I also did have to legit take out a loan later and it was easy. Just call one of the agencies and do a temporary unfreeze for 24 hours. Amazingly, they let you unfreeze to take out more loans very simply. Wonder why it's so hard to freeze in the first place? Almost like they don't give a shit who's creating the debts as long as some poor somewhere can be held to account for it.

  • It's very fun, an incredible recreation of LoZ in a different engine! Plus, because you still move at Doom speed, it might be the fastest way to beat LoZ! I'd love to see a speed run of this mod!

  • I've been thinking we need to get aspirational and take it to the next level:

Instead of "X (formally know as Twitter)", the time has come for "Twitter (currently called X)".

  • Why? It seems like "gonna" has entered the lexicon as an alternative to "going to", languages change over time. Are you mad people say "hi" instead of "hello" as well?

In particular, the Harris campaign's biggest strategy is staying energized and getting younger people to actually vote. The way you keep younger people engaged is to use language familiar to them. Talking like a stuffy politician isn't motivating to apathetic voters tired of stuffy political rhetoric.
