  • Definitely not many options around here. CVS doesn't exist, Rite Aid has one remaining location staffed about as well as Walgreens. There's Walmart, but Walmart can suck it, which only leaves Costco but it's about a 20+ minute drive across town. All the smaller or independent pharmacies have shut down over the last decade or so too.

Walgreens is the only business with an actual presence around town (probably half a dozen or more locations) but they seem terrible to work for as their employees are striking currently and it's always been clear when interacting with the employees that they don't want to be there.

  • With a fan it won't be a big deal if the charger outputs 19-24V. Do you have a multimeter? Do you have a 24V source anywhere on the board? Using a laptop charger for 24V/0.1A is just way overkill. It'll work just fine though. You might also get some 24V LEDs to run off it too since you'll have all that extra current capacity.

  • Yes while CARB may effect other vehicles sold in the US (the same market), it doesn't necessarily effect cars sold in other markets on the other continents. As I said, they generally build different cars for each market which is why Europe gets so many diesels, Australia gets Utes, the US gets SUVs in all flavor, etc.

  • Unfortunately the PIR sensors you're using only detect active motion not presence so apart from setting a long "off" delay or a lot of movement while sitting, they won't be very useful for things like lighting. I think Innovelli and a few other companies make wall switches with mmWave so those might be an option if you don't have electrical outlets where you need them for standalone sensors.

  • I've been looking for a year or two and the selection is pretty limited for off the shelf solutions. Most are $60+ each like the FP1, the Tuya options, or the one from the EverythingSmartHome youtube guy.

I've given up on having presence detection for the time being as PIR definitely doesn't cut it, though hopefully that guy responds with his DIY solution as I also have a 3D printer and electronics experience.

  • Not only with our tax money but they'll also be buying everything up at a discount. Just like in 2008 when millions lost their homes, the rich fucks were able to buy them all up for pennies on the dollar in foreclosure sales instead of the market rate, sit on them for a few years, and then sell them back to us at 2-3x what they paid.
