  • These types of events exist already. There's stuff like the DARPA races, "battle bots," VEX and LEGO robotic, RC car races, drone races, etc.

Regarding your point about removing limitations without a driver, currently anything that would harm a driver in a race is going to destroy the car too, so I can't imagine what would really change in this regard.

  • These drivers understand the danger they're getting into when entering these races.

Why do you want to take their bodily autonomy away from them by preventing them from doing something that they love? I'd much rather take a wall at 200MPH in a race car than go out from a heart attack while taking my morning shit or getting T-boned on my commute to the office.

  • This and just what, one or two days ago, the entirety of House Dems voted with all but two House Republicans to approve an internet censorship bill that Trump said he would use to silence his enemies? The only two to vote against it were Republicans. The bill is now headed to Trump to sign into law. These two parties are just two sides of the same coin.

  • I'd argue that this is a symptom, not the cause.

The real issue is that these guys are what most people would call "losers" who sit at home, isolated, playing video games and browsing the internet all day. The right noticed this and targeted them specifically with a bunch of propaganda telling them that it's not their fault they're losers, it's the fault of the left, women, and immigrants.

I used to game with two guys who fall into this category, and over time, their language got more harsh and militant until I couldn't take it anymore. They always had someone to blame like "SJWs" for their own personal decision to sit at home all day rather than work on their shortcomings. They expected attractive women to want then even though they'd do absolutely nothing to make themselves attractive to others. They'd have wild opinions on far-flung groups that they never actually interacted with personally since they'd cut themselves off from the real world. I saw Steve Bannon's tactics playing out in real time in their words.

  • It's definitely worth driving an hour or two to a bigger city to buy a car there. What I've done with the last several vehicles I've bought was to stake out TrueCar.com, find the models I'm interested in, and then watch them over a month or two to see what is and isn't a good selling price (crossreferenced with info from KBB.com).

Once I've found one that seems like a good deal, I then applied for loans online with local CU's after comparing their rates. Once approved, I headed to the dealership to buy the car, though if you're driving a great distance you may call ahead to make sure they have it. It might also be worthwhile to find 2 or 3 other vehicles that are good deals so that you have a backup if the first doesn't pan out.

  • But there's nothing inherent to the system that says the candidate with a plurality of votes has to be Democrat or Republican right? So what the fuck is the problem?

How did your Harris vote work out for you? How did your Clinton vote work out for you? What would have changed if you'd instead voted third party in either of these elections?

Do you honestly think that even if a Dem wins in 2028 that the Republicans will just disappear, "we defeated them!" and they just go away? The Republicans keep getting elected because of the Dems, their shit candidates, and their bullshit milquetoast policy that never helps anyone. What have they done to deserve our votes other than "not being Republican?" You know who else isn't Republican? Third parties.

  • They choose not to because they think other people won't and those other people don't because they think that you won't. It's a big feedback loop.

From my perspective, the Dems are a shit party that's more than happy to work with Republicans to destroy the country and its people, yet people still argue that they're the "good guys" and that they deserve to win elections despite a Mt. Everest size pile of evidence to the contrary.

Furthermore they keep throwing elections in order to get Republicans elected so what the fuck is your vote even good for if you're just voting for a losing (D) candidate? You might as well take the risk and vote 3rd party in this situation because even if you lose it's still not going to change the outcome.

You say that primary votes are important, yet the DNC is more than happy to crush a popular candidate like Bernie if it's not their chosen candidate. They put their thumb on the scale to sway the nomination toward the person they want. In 2024, we didn't even get a primary because Biden went back on his word of only running one term and then dropped out to give us Harris. Again, what was your vote even good for here? Nothing.

All of you guys want to fix things yet staunchly refuse to try anything different while expecting things to get better by repeating the same failed strategy. They won't. How many more elections will it take for people to realize that?

  • That was absolutely a lie from the dealership. You can apply online at most places now to save yourself some time. Many places even list their loan rates broken down by the type of loan (48 month new car, 60 month new car, 60 month used car, etc) so that you can compare rates without even filling out a loan application.

You might also check your credit score with Credit Karma, or your credit card company, or bank to see where you sit (these will be Vantage scores but should be close to the FICO scores used when applying for a loan) just for some more insight.

Shop around to see who has the lowest rates and then start applying. Once approved you can then walk into the dealership to actually buy a car and even used your pre-approved loan to negotiate a better rate with the dealer since they get kickbacks from banks. Also be sure to never negotiate based on the monthly payment, just the total price of the car because they can really screw you with interest rates and term lengths to make your monthly payment seem low while you end up spending more overall when negotiating based on monthly payment alone.
