  • There was a time when the same could be said about slavery. People's lives depended on slavery and they couldn't imagine an economy without it and yet here we are.

No one should own a person and no one should own an idea.

  • You didn't say celebrate. You said excited.

People are excited. Possibly more excited than when Obama was running.

Trump has been pouting about how excited everyone is so telling people not to get too excited sounds a lot like what Trump is ranting about.

  • The issue he's going to face is that he has no power this time.

Last time he was the president. He was able to set up the situation that lead to a crisis with no immediate response.

There is no way that happens. They will be ready regardless of how likely anything is going to develop.

I won't be surprised if there is a much larger body count this time around. I would be disappointed if the order to shoot on sight wasn't given for anyone that storms any federal building.

They need to be prepared for bombings like what happened in Oklahoma all those years ago.

  • Based on the dark humor groups on Facebook, I am quite confident this is what racists actually believe. Transphobes too.

The poorly educated think dark humor is a joke an acceptable way to joke about ideas they hate.

When a study linking dark humor to intelligence was released, the knuckle draggers clucked and strutted about, thinking their hatred indicated intelligence.

  • But pizzagate!

The number of people on the right who think the left are the child molestors is at least 23%. They literally think we're Santanist worshiping pedophiles. The number of which are projecting their own pedophilia tendencies is non-zero.

  • What?

Physics calculations are renowned for using simplifications to approximate results.

That doesn't work for space. One cannot assume an object is a perfect sphere experiencing no friction and have any hope of success. And that's just the first of many forces that are dropped to make the math easy.

  • Try staggering those start days and times. A flood of reminders is easier to ignore than if they were spread out across the two weeks and the time is set to when you are most likely to be ready to act.

  • Being a mother of three plays against her in my mind.

She didn't do this for her children but her own selfish reasons. Her children will suffer from her actions and therefore she is an irresponsible parent that does not consider the well being of her children.

  • Thats not what quantum mechanics shows at all.

What is being described is the pop-sci version quantum mechanics.

That version has people believing in multiverses and wormholes and other nonsense that is not falsifiable like magic and has no evidence like magic but people believe in it because people desperately want magic to be real.

  • I think this will be the long term impact.

Customers have been pushed to discover alternatives and are unlikely to return for reasons beside price and quality.

For example, there are sit down restaurants near me that haven't raised their prices or have barely done so and are now cheaper than McDonald's.

The fact that local one offs haven't needed to raise prices signals to me that a large multinational company did not need to either. This adds a fuck off and die factor to my future purchasing decisions. I am not a price conscious customer but I take being gouged personally.
