  • Because you could be on another machine that doesn't have Python 3.X it only has 3.X-1. or you could write code for Python 3.12 and then four years later no one has 3.12 anymore.

    Sometimes you need to download packages from pip but pip might not be available or you may be hitting your company's internal pip mirror.

  • While you may be correct, if you're on a dogmatic team, work with dogmatic people, or are a part of a dogmatic company, you probably need to avoid duplication. This is because duplicate code is an easy thing for a reviewer to nitpick and reviewing code can sometimes be more about showing off and less about ensuring code quality.

  • The US gov can take control of the constellation through the Defense Production Act and they can even jail or remove musk if he doesn't comply. In the event of an actual war, assuming the constellation doesn't get shot down, it wouldn't be a problem.

    You should listen to Noam Chomsky. He's very very liberal and has some good criticisms of the US involvement overseas. I don't agree with everything he says but it's worth listening to.
