  • Seeing is believing and it would sway myself and many more. Until then, it is just another article written based on an unsubstantiated reddit post. And I've seen enough Reddit posts be bullshit to need to see that NDA before believing.

  • Trump overspends because he doesn't know the value of money. Elon wants money and the government has the most of it. Starlink is a government funding machine that soaks up all the space budget. But NASA has been bearing the brunt of budget cuts each year since they retired the STS shuttle, so Elon wants that defense budget via the NRO. Trump founded the Space Corps and believes in the vague idea of "space is future" that Elon pumps out and will overspend trying to make that happen. Elon's plan is to directly receive government money.

Trump is so dumb as to not understand details, easily persuaded, and has unlimited money that Elon sees him as the best way to get space seed money.

  • As we get older, our perception of time speeds up. An immortal would easily lose track of time after just two human lifetimes, causing an immortal to suffer from dementia-like symptoms where they expect one date but find themselves habitually late. And since time doesn't mean the same thing as us to an immortal, they would eventually become disconnected from the world around them and be unable to reintegrate. They wouldn't be able to maintain friendships, relationships, mortgages, payments, etc. They would be surrounded by people but forever alone.

  • Well fuck. This is a gut punch for a Tuesday. I just watched Close Encounters the other day and my partner was amazed at how good she was as a mother at the end of her rope. She was an incredible talent who will be missed.

  • First among his reasons, he said, was an “invasion” of immigrants at the border. He called it a “ticking time bomb.”

What happens when the bomb goes off? Do the people stop arriving? Does the country flip a switch and everything is okay again? Will the sky fade to black and rocks turn to water as the world that we know is thrust into a nightmare chasm of endless suffering?

Or do other people just start living and working here? Rightwing thinking is just cowardice in a suit.

  • They do both. Russia uses as many different approaches as they can to help their mark ignore one and bond with another. It's why they use democrats like Tulsi Gabbard to get leftist voters as well as third party candidates and right wing candidates too. Their goal is to divide people into inaction, which is just as good as ignoring or approval.

The only thing Russia doesn't do is tell the whole truth. It's why actually looking into sources and getting lots of varied sources defeats their approach. Russia preys on the lazy.

  • The economy assigns a quantifiable amount, a number, to things and unimaginative people will know how much value it brings. Ask an unimaginative person to ascribe value to beauty, joy, contentment, they will find them worthless without a number.

The economy is a guide for helping people who can't empathize or imagine. It has a purpose so we can't get rid of it. But we can give a stated value to the things we cherish as inalienable rights. And that value isn't a number, it is a priority. For example, I will turn down money if I am offered free time. No set amount of money would sway me, it would change day to day like market pricing, but I value time more than money.

I agree that we should dismiss "line go up" as a culture. Chasing money has only shown corruption. But we can shape the economy by giving priority to unvalued things.
