  • I hear you but it's far more likely for a woman to track her own period than for a nearby man to track it. You're the reason this professor felt the need to give this example. Because men assume all progress and intellectual pursuits were obviously sought by men. You guys think it's the automatic default, and even the suggestion that a woman might have accomplished something is met with, "hey! It could have been a man!"

  • Other than tides, why do you need to know when the next full moon is? And can't you just look at the moon and see how close it is waning to the full moon?

Not saying the calendar is definitely a woman's, but wanting to know when you're going to start leaking blood onto everything near you seems like a good reason to track a period. Plenty of women are regular like clockwork, I was at 26 days almost exactly for years.

  • Yes. My parents run a storage place. Can confirm a LOT of the units are full of junk. The price of storage very quickly exceeds the value of the stuff in the units and then the people just keep paying for them for years, never actually accessing them a lot of times.

Plenty are businesses storing records, or a lawn company storing equipment, plenty between houses, or homeless people renting a small unit to keep their stuff safe. Some are like an extra garage to store vehicles.

Lots are just junk, maybe with one or two things of legitimate value, and then 10 feet of junk. Some piled to the ceiling. One lady had 7 units piled to the ceiling, stuff just shoved in there. She was paying for this storage for like a decade. In the end it's like she paid off a small house just in storage fees. My mom felt so bad, and constantly tried to convince the lady to just let the stuff go. She just needed an actual therapist :(

  • For the US at least:

"New research by Vanderbilt Professor Jessica A. Kennedy finds the gender difference in tendency to negotiate has now reversed, and the widespread narrative that women don’t ask is outdated. While other measures are necessary to completely close the gender pay gap, the study also discusses how people who believe and adhere to the notion that “women don’t ask” hinder progress. "

  • I mean you couldn't snack while in then - too much risk of crumbs and it'd be difficult to clean with them all around so risk of bugs. I guess you could just vacuum blindly !

  • Idk, my husband can sneak out of bed, but his phone vibrating in the bed wakes me. Even if it's just a little zzt to indicate a text has come in. I guess it's one of the noises I'm "listening for"?

  • People are down voting you, but I've heard about a lot of inappropriate behavior at sleepovers from people close to me, boys and girls. Me and my siblings were not allowed to go to sleepovers. Nobody thought we were weird. Once my parents grew a relationship with a friend's parents, that rule got broken once in a while. Other than that, we were allowed to invite a friend over for a sleepover if we wanted one 🤷🏼‍♀️ I'm an adult now with my own child, and I'm really glad my parents protected me. I will have the same rule

  • I took enjoy morning coffee or a cold beer in the shower. Have you ever had a delicious smoothie in the shower? I don't know why but the most enjoyable shower drink I ever had was a cold smoothie while washing off after a trip to the beach

  • As someone who's been stuck several times before the person with medical training taps in the next person, who also needs several tries, it is not my experience that you can always find a vein (unless I'm just really unlucky and the hospital employs a lot of incompetent people). Sometimes a nurse can get blood out on the first try, but sometimes they're sticking both arms and moving onto my hands and I end up with two arms covered in bruises the next day. Sometimes they go get a pediatric needle and that helps. Last time, we called in the "IV Team" who used an ultrasound to place my IV. Some of us just have difficult veins.

  • Idk about chicken pox, but I know you can't get the RSV vaccine if you're not elderly or in a very specific window of pregnancy. Like 34 to 36 weeks. My OB was out of it, I missed the window and then none of the pharmacies would give it to me at 37 weeks, even though my OB still recommended it.

  • Duh doy! That's the point of them! They let people know who's experiences lead them to be over sensitive to things so they can choose whether or not they avoid media. And that's a good thing! Trigger warnings hurt no one and if you can't spare literally three seconds at the start of something to protect someone else's peace, you're selfish and probably not a good community member.

  • I think it's not that sex starved men are dangerous as much as it's men are dangerous. It's not the presence of your buddy, it's the absence of his wife that has changed the other parents' safety rating of the house.

  • Is it an awful way to go through life? Yes. Does it lower your risk to go through life this way? Also yes. Sorry, but I'm not risking my kid's innocence to be politically correct.

Not all men, but enough men to be wary of all men.

  • Yeah, I thought the whole point of a tiny house was to live outside, and your house is for cooking and sleeping!

When my sister's tiny house was in Texas, they lived on a huge stretch of land, and the closest neighbor was another tiny house with a horse. They didn't need curtains. Now they moved back to our home state and their neighbor is 25 feet from them :(
