But tankies almost universally want authoritarianism and dictatorships? those are far right positions. The left tends to want some flavour of socialist democracy. Tankies are left like China is communist.

Tankies have almost nothing in common with the far left outisde teenagers who haven't worked out the fundemental flaws with communism yet. Beyond those teenagers most left wing folk consider tankies to be pretty right wing.

You're making it sound way harder than it is, The US has like 4? substations that if they all went down at once it would cascade fail about 90% of the grid, they aren't in bunkers or surrounded by armed guards or anything, they're random ass substations with chain link fences around them.

It's weird because steam isn't even that amazing at what it does and even some of the features I like can be tempremental or downright buggy at times.

Selection bias, the people who don't discriminate aren't causing harm so you don't notice them but since they don't speak up they aren't helping either, so the jerks are still setting the tone. The solution is to not just do the right thing but actively call people out the jerks.

I hate how we let them re-name it distruption, we should go back calling it what it is. Using their vast wealth to comit blatant market manipulation using anti-competative practices.

We also have an issue that much of our housing stock is really old and actually relies on leaks for propper air circulation, properly insulating these houses leads to damp and mold problems as OP mentioned. Huge swaths of housing in the UK are just fundementally unfit for purpose.

I find the grey goo discussion in the comments funny, fortunately you can't actually break molecular bonds that quickly without releasing an enormous quantity of heat.

Robots kind of suck compared to humans in terms of energy efficiency, sure a factory robot arm can crush you but if it had to run on the electricity equivelent of a bowl of bran flakes you could overpower it with one hand and not much effort. (barring an insane gear ratio which would make the thing incredibly slow)

Richer countries tend to have really shitty work life balances though, You need both money to raise a kid and time to do it as well, if both parents are working full time and barely making rent then of course they aren't going to have kids. Japan and South Korea are perfect examples of this.

The UK under Thatcher utterly anihilated its own manufacturing sector at a huge longterm economic detriment seemingly just to destroy labour unions.
