Hasn't the US also repeatedly allegedly accidentally hit targets with white phosphorus that was intended just as a marking flair?

I really hope this doesn't catch on, Games are already horifically inefficient, imagine if we started making them like this and a 4090 becomes the minnimum system requirement for goddamn DOOM.

From what I understand (I don't play but my brother does) Starcraft 2 multiplayer was balanced almost entierly around the pro scene.

I feel like the villains weren't awful (yes the rest of the writing was awful) but gearbox didn't really commit to the bit hard enough. At the start of the game they were clearly being set up as vapid streamer culture twins but it never really escalated beyond that, instead of ticktock villains we just got villains who happen to use ticktock. It was like if upon reaching the city in BL2 Handsome Jack just continued being a corrupt CEO with a penchant for robots and didn't spiral all the way into megolomania.

Tor was always comrpomised, the point has never been to be uncrackable, the point is that tracking down an induvidual user is enough effort that it can't just be done on mass like with normal internet traffic. If you draw direct attention to yourself then it isn't going to save you.

While I think our current brute force method attempt at AI is already hitting the limits of how 'smart' it can be I suspect over the next few years we'll develop far lighter models until your phone having a simulated personality is just a standard (hopefully optional) feature. They'll probably also have an online feature to cross reference their own answers with wikipedia or something.

Agreed, though I wish youtubes algorithm was able to take into account video release date. Sometimes most of the science youtubers happen to be on a break and I end up watching a higher proportion of gaming content which then further kills the science content in my feed until I manually search it out again.

The current GPU situation actually has me curious about AMDs upcoming Halo APU chips. They're likely going to be pretty expensive relative to their potential GPU equivelent performance but if they work out similar to the combined price of a CPU and GPU then it might be worthwhile as they use onboard RAM as their VRAM. Probably a crazy idea but one I look forward to theory-building in spring when they release.
