  • Cybersec White Papers haven't ranked an iPhone as the most secure phone in like 5 years.

  • Pay for it.

When developers actually put this much work into making an incredible experience, it should be rewarded. Otherwise, more andore developers will trend toward F2P, P2W, GAAS crap.

  • One of the biggest reasons I love Tulsa so much. The Art Deco architecture is gorgeous and I love that the city has embraced it and protected it as part of the culture.

Crazy to think what Tulsa would be now if the Tulsa Race Massacre and the Oil Slump hadn't happened.

For those that don't know, Tulsa was essentially the Oil Capital of the world from the 20s to the 60s. The city was growing incredibly fast and was pulling in money from all over the world.

Black Wall Street was the richest Black community in the world until the Tulsa Race Massacre in 1921.

In the 40s and 50s, Tulsa was the wealthiest city in the world on a per-capita basis. In the 1966, the IPE (International Petroleum Expo) reached its peak. Then, right as the Oil Slump was starting, Houston capitalized by host the Offshore Technology Conference which drew the industry toward Houston. If the Oil Slump in the 70s hadn't happened, Tulsa would've likely seen Houston levels of growth throughout the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Then, even the shale revolution may not have pulled Energy's capital from Oklahoma to Texas.

Anyway, we're doing fine. But Tulsa has a rich history that just kind of came to a standstill for 40 years thanks to the Oil Slump and State leadership refusing to put meaningful resources into economic diversification.

  • I'm sorry, but that looks incredibly bland...

  • I'm just going to keep using Thunder until Boost comes out. Sync feels a little clunky.

  • Gaming is actually pretty great on Linux now thanks to Proton. I still use Windows for games usually, but of the ones over tried in Linux, I haven't had any issues.

  • No. Sandboxed apps only prevent some fingerprinting, but notably provides a ‘reasonable budget’ for data that can be gathered.

Sandboxes absolutely prevent all cross-app tracking. The app doesn't have access to anything outside the sandbox.

What you said about the advertising ID is true and is basically what I said, but disabling the advertising ID does not stop profiling or fingerprinting, just limits the most obvious applications of it.

What useful tracking do you think is still happening when you take these precautions?

Using a VPN is a start, but we’re comparing the privacy of Android and iOS. You can use a VPN on both. iOS includes an opt-in pseudo-vpn baked into the OS with private relay, for $0.99 per month. And besides, using a VPN does nothing to block the the fingerprinting done by native apps.

So then what difference does it make? You can use whatever VPN you want.

Are you sure you work in security? Like, mall security?

Yes. Stick to the topic. The ad-hominem is just childish.

  • I've found Thunder to be the best so far. But I'm holding out for Boost.

  • Yeah, I'll likely use Boost. It was the best reddit app.

  • Boost is IMO the best Android Reddit app and they have a Lemmy version coming soon..

  • Google restricts Cross app tracking and you can entirely disable the ad profile.

They will continue to make money off of the users who don't care, while capturing more market from those who do.

  • Just finished up Diablo 4 and now I'm playing Dave the Diver.

  • No. I'm very aware.

Android gives you full control over the permissions given to apps just like iOS does.

And since you can download additional browsers and browser plugins that aren't just repackaged Safari, you can have a lot more control over your Internet privacy if you want it.

  • What do you think a consciousness looks like without a physical body?
