  • Absolutely, and I hear the same thing from everyone.

Right after I finish my replay of Chrono Trigger (RIP Akira Toriyama), I'm playing NieR Automata next:

  • no excuse! You could take a picture of a meme on a computer screen and fail to crop the screenshot

  • I certainly enjoyed Hogwarts Legacy, played it on release. Hopefully proper sequels will come in time that won't be live service!

  • I enjoyed the reboot trilogy from a few years ago, and I've been meaning to play the original games. Great way to get into it is with the Remastered ones! Good luck!

  • That sounds extremely challenging! Good luck, I heard Octopath was a gem, and probably a good way to feel out if turn-based is for you.

Hmm now that I think about it, my first turn-based RPG was Pokemon Blue when I was a kid.

  • It's a game I've been looking forward to play myself, especially afer my doctor cleared me to play it.

I'm not NieR sighted after all!

  • Aww they're so cute, looks cozy! Thanks for the cat tax!

Darn, I should have asked people to post cute pet pics! Note to self for next time.

  • No prob! The fediverse is still a nascent platform, and even PCMR is a nascent community compared to the Reddit original. Plus I guess I'm not cool enough or creative enough to make frequent posts every day like The Picard Maneuver, but I try to comment at least once every other day.

Giveaways are always fun! At least I can do that periodically lol

Now I just need to find a game you might be interested in next time. :)

  • If magicking away your poop is a dark art, then send me to Azkaban

  • Also here's the cute cat meme I made. I just like cats.

  • Best of luck everyone! Reply to this comment if you have questions.

Please continue to be kind to each other, and most importantly, be kind to yourself. It's easy to get so angry in today's divisive world. You can't change the world, but you can certainly help those closest to you.

    Stay safe everyone!

EDIT Sep 21: All games were claimed!

There's still a list of leftover keys that an anonymous Lemmy user donated to me. I'll make a separate post on !GiftOfGaming@lemmy.world either next week or the week after, just so I can take some rest and recover from my cold.

Thanks again everyone for participating! Look out for a future big giveaway I'll host, most likely in Winter 2024. Stay safe, and as always: remember to be kind to each other. Be kind to yourself - you'd be surprised what a difference you can make for yourself and others in your local community by being kind.

  • Jinkies! My glasses! Curses and splashes!

  • Good grief I’ve heard of none of those distros! Man I got some learning to do.

Nevertheless, VM is the way to go. Thanks for the helpful suggestions, I’ll add them to my research.

  • I hope you feel better after venting all that frustration, @cyborganism@lemmy.ca. Sounds like you went through hell, but you've been forged from fire now. 😀

I am getting ready to make the switch, but I am methodically prepping in advance of the end of life support for Windows 10. I'm currently prepping all my programs and everything I use my PC for and doing research into all the compatible programs I need to make them work, including all my workflows. My goal is to gradually cut over to a Linux install once I'm fully comfortable, which includes which distro to pick. Pop OS didn't work out great for me when I tried it two years ago: too buggy, ran poorly, etc. So Linux Mint, endeavour, or another distro that's popular with gamers might be right for me. My goal is to use a common, well-supported distro that won't become hostile to users. I hear you can distro hop, which sounds scary as hell to me, but apparently is quite trivial. That is also part of my research!

    Good luck with your switch!

  • I hear you dude. That 10+ year reputation is what drove me to buy their stuff, along with all the glowing user recommendations.

I heard that you can make the rubber last longer on mice by periodically cleaning them to slow their chance of breaking down, but I never experienced the rubber actually separating. That happened to my spouse's Razer mouse (heh, that rhymes).

But I suppose that, apart from this whole post's focus on "as a service", that possibly Logi products have begun to go downhill quite recently. I wouldn't know, all of mine have been great. Sucks for your MX mouse, but I feel you on the uncertainty of buying future Logi mice.
