  • Thanks for entering! It’s tough to decide where to start with Final Fantasy. Thankfully you don’t have to play them in order, and they’re not connected. I’m first experience was 3 on SNES, and then FF VII on Ps1 back in the day.

It might make sense to start with one of the more popular ones. I’d love to tell you 7 Remake since it’s most modern mod to a classic (although I haven’t played remake). FF 9 I heard was amazing, and FF X is a gem. 8 I believe is underrated, I really enjoyed it back in the day.

Generally they all have great stories so I hear. It may be tough to play 1-3 in 2024 unless you grew up on old school JRPGs.

  • LOL I started at your comment a little too long trying to decipher what N.2 meant, and I was like, does this person mean "M.2" as in for an M.2 drive for PC? And then it hit me. I am not a smart person sometimes.

More seriously though, I too have been looking forward to FF 1-6. I played some of the more recent FF's (specifically 7, 8, 10, 13) and remember playing bits of III as a kid on SNES. I want to go back to the origin. Since I got my Steam Deck during the winter holiday last year, I can try to make time to play these games on the side, too.

  • Gosh I've heard so many great things about Baldur's Gate 3, and I've never played CRPGs. It's good to hear your experience since I somewhat align with your experience, only difference is that I love turn-based RPGs having grown up on them - just never played crpg. I just don't know if BG3 is for me, but I probably will pick it up sooner than I expected after your comment resonated with me. Right now I'm working through Chrono Trigger (RIP Akira Toriyama), then going to balance between Hades, NieR Automata, and possibly some shorter game as a palette cleanser. So, probably mid 2025 I might play BG3.

Since you just have no time, I recommend you put down the weights and lift controllers instead. Reject responsibilities. Embrace gaming. Oh... if only it were that easy!

Best of luck to you and thanks for entering!

  • Good to hear that feedback about Forbidden West. I, too, enjoyed the heck out of Horizon Zero Dawn and loved the story.

I kind of heard similar sentiment around Horizon FW, so as a patient gamer, I'm waiting for a hefty discount before I pick it up. I'm thinking I'll play it probably in late 2025 or 2026.

  • Ugh. That's how I feel when anyone says the magic words "Persona 5".

  • Meme, story, hobby, or get out!

just kidding! I enjoyed that game for sure, best of luck to you and thanks for entering!

  • Well, welcome to Lemmy, homie! Happy to have you here! Browse around and see what it has to offer, and if it interests you, try to get involved and comment. If you're an original thinker you can make posts, but I'm not cool enough to be a daily poster LOL.

I'll definitely do a future giveaway for us for sure, but next time I need to diversify the game choices. These were all just on great sales, so you know... a bit cheaper on me that way! :)

  • yeah exactly dude, that's my sentiment and why i'm doing it. While it's not critical for us to have explosive daily posts in the Fediverse, I just really hope one day we'll be able to get more people commenting. It'll be cool to have good conversations here.

I think these days people are just so used to browsing on a phone, upvoting, and moving on. I miss web 1.0 and Forums. I guess that's why I've stuck around with Lemmy since the Reddit API Exodus.

  • I hear that all the time, and I'm looking to try out new games. I, perhaps stupidly, bought a bunch of different games such as Bloodstained Ritual of the Night, to try out.

Still haven't played them. I just don't have the time. But my favorite genre is RPG, so perhaps it's time to try out a genre I don't have much experience in - I only played Metroid Prime, a bit of Super Metroid, and I guess Mega Man X-2 if that counts as a metroidvania.

  • The reboot trilogy (Survivor) was my introduction to Tomb Raider. Enjoyed them very much, they were great games. And it got me to buy and try out some of the older games. I played part I, and I think I started part II but probably some other game caught my attention.

Since I don't remember those playthroughs, the Remastered I-III would be a great reintroduction.

I'll check out the self aware AI you talked about, sounds interesting and has me curious

  • Your english is great, dude. I only speak one primary language, and for other languages I only know how to ask "where is the bathroom" and the swear words. You always have to learn the swear words LOL.

  • That's exactly how I plan to play it, too! Nothing like kicking back on a couch or equivalent and playing on steam deck!

  • I see you eated the purple berries! And it's perfectly cropped, as all memes should be.

  • So I've only seen the Star Trek reboot movies with Chris Pine, and Wrath of Khan. Enjoyed them, but I know the Chris Pine ones may not have been like the actual shows and instead more action-oriented or whatever. It's been years since I've seen them.

Everything here is Star Trek, I need to watch them.

    Where do I start?

  • How dare you call me out like that bro!

That's exactly what I'm gonna do, dammit.

EDIT: Darnit, I also need to finish Tears of the Kingdom, too. I hate being an adult sometimes. Nned to figure out how to make money without working so I can just play all the games!

  • Man those hit hard! That's me these days, I'm so impatient and just expect things to work the way I want them to on my time.

  • That's a cool fact, I had no idea nor did I think about dragonflies as predators!

forgive the crudely made meme, I whipped it up while I'm at work:

  • LMAO that's gross as hell, but funny. I know beans is pretty reputable on the Fediverse.

Love Kingdom Hearts, enjoy the journey! I've only played part one, got partway through part two, and then played dream drop distance on 3DS back in the day. But during that whole time I enjoyed it. Definitely need to pick them up on Steam, but I'm a patient gamer now since my time is so limited.

  • Absolutely, and I hear the same thing from everyone.

Right after I finish my replay of Chrono Trigger (RIP Akira Toriyama), I'm playing NieR Automata next:

  • no excuse! You could take a picture of a meme on a computer screen and fail to crop the screenshot
