  • This author writes like an insufferable teenage cryptobro that got a little older and got a degree, but never actually grew up. I guess he's after a very specific audience though.

Still though, slogging through that prose is slightly more annoying than a feisty chihuahua. Which itself is irritating, because I kinda want to know his actual opinions without having to dig them out of something full of endless paragraphs of his pointless bullshit fluff.

Ugh. Kids, if you write like that, you're literally what Shakespeare was making fun of like, a bunch of centuries ago, with that whole "brevity is the soul of wit" char. He was viciously mocking you, a dozen-plus generations ago. Just get your point out.

  • Lot of slamming happening with this one. I'll point out again though, Trump's whole classified docs thing would've went away if he had simply complied with the archives' request for the documents to be returned, instead of ignoring them.

Did Biden receive any such request?

  • No, not really. lol I mean yeah, life has a lot of work in it, but life doesn't have an optional "all" feed. Fortunately. That'd be even worse than a reddit all feed.

edit: I mean, even 4chan doesn't have an all feed.

  • It's not a criticism of you specifically. It's just that this thread gets made very frequently by many different people, and I've yet to really get any kind of answer.

I ask this same question each time. I really do want to know where people come from that this route sounds like a reasonable and efficient way to approach the user experience. To me it just sounds like a whole lot of work that'll never end, because people will keep making new communities.

  • Why do so many people try to use the all feed as their default? That's so rare everywhere else in social media.

I mean, I cannot imagine trying to use the waterfall of garbage I'd get if I defaulted to some kind of "all" feed on a place like reddit.

Where do you folks come from?

  • Tucker is our most famous right-winger. That's basically it. He can say whatever the hell he wants, due to our first amendment, which protects both freedom of speech and freedom of the press. This includes a freedom to willfully lie, unfortunately, unless one has been placed under oath.

  • Cooperative self-defense is certainly important and valuable. Similarly, appeasement fails to establish reasonable boundaries and/or enforce them adequately, and imo is harmful and counter-productive.

That said, while Chamberlain was a little naive in how he presented things, he did buy time for Britain to militarize, which eventually helped win the Battle of Britain. I would argue that we have learned from history, which is why Europe is militarizing today and not trying to appease Putin, despite his best efforts at influencing western policies.

In the case of domestic politics, in the US at least, we outnumber the crazies by a massive margin, and any outbreak of wide-scale violence would see the gravy seals utterly crushed. This is why they resort to propaganda and terrorism and shy away from outright conflict. Since propaganda and terrorism are their current methods of choice, we would not be defending ourselves if we were to instigate any violence, we would become aggressors instead.

It's a bit of a myth that the peaceful libs are weaklings that shy away from conflict, that's actually a core message of far-right propaganda. We still occupy a position of great strength, and we need to keep that in mind as we play out the hand we've been dealt. If we can still win with the methods of Mr Rogers and mental health care, we have a responsibility to try very hard, and resist the fear that the far right tries so hard to instil.

All that said, I never have settled on my own personal opinion on the principle of always punch a Nazi. I'm very much on the fence on that one, and I think it comes down to how effectively boundaries have been communicated before enforcement begins, which will unfortunately vary case-to-case. But if a person wants to learn how to fight in preparation for the potential for future violence, I suppose I ultimately have nothing against that.

In the meantime though, we are very actively fighting an Information War. I think we should devote great resources to that, and feeling like we need to prepare for physical war, at the personal level, is still very premature, and will siphon attention and resources away from the actual battle in front of us at this very moment. This actually serves the purposes of the far right, since they are trying to win the Information War to prepare for more dire forms of conflict. It's too soon to take any resources away from the battles of the ballot box, which are ultimately fought with words and technology instead of fists and weapons.

Unless you live in Ukraine anyway.

  • That would only serve to entrench them, unfortunately. Much like how WW1 did not prevent WW2, and WW2 did not prevent fascism from rearing its ugly head yet again in the modern world, you simply cannot destroy your enemy using death and destruction. All that does is create more of them into the future. Israel is learning this the hard way as we speak.

You must find another method. Any other method, because the one you propose is doomed to fail.

  • Looking at generations has more to it than simple ageism. Much of human behavior is a product of their culture, their surroundings. These surroundings change over time, and in the modern world, very rapidly. It's the music, the films, books, memes, sayings, attitudes etc.

Discrimination is definitely something we want to avoid. But completely ignoring these unique cultural influences that change year-to-year, and are a natural part of growing up, is simply foolish. Parents do not, and should not, simply bear 100% responsibility for what their kids do, when their kids are not, and should not be, complete and utter slaves.

  • That's funny, I think it reflects the ease of making money with celebrity gossip, which takes very little investment to produce and tends to draw a fair amount of engagement.

Whatever we click on, mixed with what is cheapest to produce, that's what we get more of.

  • Orange is a fairly common synonym for him. You may also recall people talking about his hands.

Though tbf, dems mostly prefer to talk about policy, since policies are what politicians actually work with. Like, when talking about an athlete, you can focus on how they "seem", or you can talk about the actual techniques and skills they are the best at.

  • If you're not doing anything illegal then I highly recommend keeping your hands out in the open where they can see both of them, and politely answering their questions.

They have a gun, so its not about right/wrong, it's about your own safety. You don't know if that's a decent one or a shitty one.
