  • Yeah, they can definitely survive another underwhelming generation. They’re sitting on a massive war chest of money and now they have other successful revenue sources like the movies they’re doing.

I would hate to see an industry without their hardware innovations and fantastic software. I’m rooting for their leadership to be humbled and to abandon the full greed mode that they’ve activated, but I’m not rooting for their demise.

  • Like everything else since the advent of harnessing fire, it’s a double edged sword that can be used for good and evil.

  • If they are being honest and really giving all of that money to charity then that’s cool. I’m hoping they are successful enough with this that it hurts Reddit, because fuck Reddit, but I’m sticking with Lemmy for now.

  • I just don't understand how they are struggling with something they invented themselves and already perfected in the mid-eighties.

I took NES and SNES controllers apart like two months ago to clean them. It's pretty simple in there.

  • I’ve never had a partner that wants me to actually choke her for fuck’s sake. A lot of women are just turned on by the fantasy and like sex a little rough. Apply a little pressure on their neck and humor them if they’re into it.

  • The goofy mouse mode is honestly the only thing about the Switch 2 that reminds me of the old Nintendo, adding new input methods to new hardware. Even if it has limited support, it will be a very good thing for certain experiences like shooters, strategy games, Pikmin, and Mario Maker.

  • 8bitdo sells a fantastic controller that does everything the Switch Pro controller does besides gyro for $25. It has hall-effect sticks, hall effect triggers and a much better d-pad. It really sickens me how greedy the console manufacturers have gotten with controller prices.

  • Relationships in general aren't for me. I get sick of them quickly, sick of sex with the same person, bored. I don't like answering to anybody else or having to spend weekends doing stuff I don't want to do or getting sucked into their family issues and shit. I'm not putting myself or anybody else through the drama anymore.

  • There's some overlap in customers, sure but the vast majority of people who buy a Switch 2 aren't the types who would buy a Deck. Switch 2 will sell tens of millions more units to a mainstream consumer. And that's fine. Deck can still be a successful product in its own right as long as Valve is making a profit off of it through Steam software sales.

  • Yup. That is misinformation that was spread to me in the same manner and I gobbled it up. I'm much less angry since watching a YouTube video and learning about that in fact.

  • The list of games that aren't running well or at all is at least very small, so it's not much of a worry anyways. Only game I own that is on the list is Doom Eternal and I can play that handheld on Steam Deck now. Well, Rocket League too, but I'm sure Epic will release a better native version for Switch 2.

  • I tried to get banned with my last couple posts but they ignored them I guess. Account is still there.

  • But then GTA3 was already the natural progression for the series. It's not that different than the 2D GTA games in terms of design... the technology just wasn't there yet to build it out in 3D until that point. I'm sure they were already in process of developing the game before seeing Shenmue and it would have turned out very similar had that game never existed.

  • Maybe I’m just getting old, but I was very bored and underwhelmed during the entire presentation even before the terrible pricing reveal. I like the mouse joycons and the Donkey Kong game. That’s about it.

  • Yup. Life necessities and stealing as much entertainment as I can with good old piracy.

  • Yeah, I think that's another huge factor that made the Switch so successful! It was priced at a point that households had multiple units and multiple copies of games like Kart and Smash. Only people doing really well are going to be able to swing that at these prices.

  • Hopefully this system isn't the smashing success that the first Switch was and it humbles them a bit. Beyond the price gouging, the novelty of the concept has worn some and this system really doesn't do anything all that exciting beyond improved visuals (which doesn't excite me as somebody who already has a good PC).

I'm a really huge Nintendo fan who has owned every one of their systems besides the Virtual Boy and bought most of those at launch. I was almost certainly going to purchase a Switch 2 as soon as I could... yet yesterday's lackluster software reveals followed up by the outrageous pricing has me saying the scalpers can have this one and Nintendo can go to hell.

It's likely that you're right and people are going to line up to reward them for this and it will lead to price increases across the entire industry unfortunately.
