  • Indeed I should have said “up to 4K” and of course that is usually going to require using Nvidia’s excellent DLSS tech. But at the end of the day, the results are a visual treat. Again, mainstream consumers don’t think about stuff like this. It’s a solid upgrade over Switch. Thing is going to sell out instantly and be hard to get for a year just like the original regardless of what we think.

  • The hardware really isn’t dated though. Remember this is a handheld, not a console, and it’s using a newly designed custom Nvidia chip. Mainstream audiences aren’t going to be deeply analyzing the specs. They’re just going to look at the games. And the games look very good and are running at 4K.

  • Yeah, they’re going to sell out immediately and stock is going to be scarce even if they did increase the price.

  • If they had actually done their job, he would have never been reelected. The media was harder on Bernie Sanders when he was winning primaries.

  • And as the innocent man who is either still in that horrific prison or dead proves, they'll apply the label to anyone they please and it will work with their base.

  • If they're Republican it won't matter.

  • I really hope we can all be on the same page that sending Americans to a cruel international prison for the act of opposing the Supreme Leader will be met with resistance of the second amendment variety. What would we have to lose at that point? I'd rather be shot dead than be tortured the rest of my days.

  • It's a slight buzz. People are substantially more dangerous when they are sleep deprived but no laws or severe punishments for that because the system needs its slaves to get to work whether they've rested well or not.

  • One of the issues I have with the new open-world style Zelda games is that they don’t have replay value. After finishing each once (which takes a lot of time), I can’t actually imagine wanting to go back and play them again. So yeah, Nintendo can charge what they want and it isn’t very appealing regardless. Increased resolution isn’t going to change the experience.

  • VR is indeed a thing that keeps me chained to Windows for now. I spend a lot of time in Visual Pinball VR especially! But it’s not the biggest problem having a dual boot situation and only using Windows for games. Perhaps one day even VR will be doable in Linux and I can abandon Windows entirely. For now, it looks like my gaming sessions are going to be spied on so I better aim to impress. Heh.

  • Yeah, agreed. Everybody likes to say “there’s no excuse when you can Uber!” but in a real world situation that requires an expensive ride home and then an expensive ride back to your car the next day while worrying if it’s okay in the parking lot. Not actually very practical when you’re just having a reasonable amount of drinks and not getting shit-faced. So I hang around where I’m at after my last beer until I know I’m safe and just hope I’m not slightly over that silly .08.

  • It's a personal decision. Some of us enjoy the flavor and the social enhancements after having a few. I agree fuck people who drive really drunk but I don't consider a few beers to be that. In fact, I know that a few beers doesn't make me drunk or mess up my motor skills any. I'm significantly more dangerous when I am sleep deprived but that isn't illegal. Heh.

  • Lines are fine. The punishments are too severe at this line though.

  • People go to bars and friends' houses and such and drink. It's a part of life in western society. There is a massive difference in being slightly buzzed and being sloshed and I think the punishments should scale. Just as I'm not trying to change minds, mine won't change either. This is my unpopular opinion as the thread requested.

  • Punishments are pretty severe... Night in jail, thousands in fines, possibility of losing your license... Justified when the person is actually inebriated but I don't believe that is the case at .08... that's a little buzz.

Not trying to change minds here though. I know it's an unpopular opinion.

  • DUI laws are too strict. It shouldn't be all or nothing at .08 BAC but more severe punishments for more severe inebriation. .08 is pretty low and people who drink regularly can function fine at that level.

People hate this one but... hey, it's my most unpopular opinion.

  • Yeah, I’m big on Visual Pinball VR and I don’t think anybody has that running on Linux.

  • Yeah, no doubt. I’m honestly digging the smaller community aspect personally.

  • I literally only use Windows for video games these days and Steam OS is looking better and better for that.
