  • 🤔 That's strange, what are you using to view the instance? On desktop at least when viewing the activity breakdown 95% of my posts from the past 2 days have 1 dislike. But maybe you're right.

  • Which was my plan in the first place but I figured I'd ask to see if anything could be done. Oh well I guess. It doesn't really bother me but if you had a spider making a nest in your home, wouldn't you wanna get rid of it too?

  • Exactly, especially when their the one who started this whole mess in the first place. They were pretty hostile up front so I think a screw might be loose or something. I dunno.

  • How am I supposed to find proof exactly? I'd love to, I just don't know how.

  • Hope so, this guy was really pretty terrible for no reason so like idk.

  • Well at least I asked I guess. 🤷‍♂️

  • That's akin to saying "If the fly annoys you then just move to a different house." I know you're trying to help, but that's just not great advice.

  • Yeah, I have been but it's annoying that it's almost all my posts. Like a fly buzzing around your head, there's only so much you can ignore.

  • I mean it is what it is, I'm not invested in the points I just don't like the idea that someone is hurting the discoverability of my posts.

But like yeah, whatever I guess.

  • Exactly, so I think it's fair to let the franchise get some air before it comes back into the ring so to speak. Let those games shine and be cherished, pick up a different lost franchise in the meantime. But I can definitely see how others would disagree.

  • So let them play the older games. The point is to let the franchise die so that something else can be born in it's stead. Instead of rinse repeating the same game over and over again slightly tweaking the variables and considering that a significant change.

  • Maybe this is a hot take, but I really wish we could just let things die. Smash Ultimate works quite well as the finale the series deserves. I could see maybe 20 or 30 years down the line they do a ressurection with some sort of spiritual successor. But I'm against seeing another smash anytime soon. There are a lot of franchises that I think should adopt this mindset, it's not just smash.

Edit: I also think in the interim developers could work on long dead franchises like how Destiny is bringing back Marathon.

  • Ahh, very cool. I don't know anything about Golden Sun, but regardless I hope they put your character in Smash!

  • That's where my brain went first no worries (that's years of Northerlion burnt into my skull) lol but they're probably talking about Issac from Dead Space. Right?

  • Aside from clickbait, that's probably my most hated trend with news articles nowadays. We noticed something, said a vaguely interpretable sentence then wrote that sentence in about as many ways as we could then posted it. It just feels so damn lazy, and such a waste of time. I could have just read the headline and moved on.

These news sites need to drop the article format and adopt a more blurb like style where instead of a user needing to click through a headline, it's just a headline and like 2 sentences about the thing the headline is talking about. And then for further context click through but that's it really.

  • I gotcha, thanks for the info. I'll just tag the really spicy content as NSFW just in case. Though at least here on lemmy.world it seems to blur the content regardless of if the post is tagged if it was posted to an NSFW community.

  • Unless Lemmy has backend code marking all posts NSFW

Yeah, this is what I thought initially, I mean the community itself is marked as NSFW and all content in it is getting blurred, but I haven't seen in in my feed so I'm unsure if it's getting marked outside of the community. Still, went through and marked all the stuff I think would get you in trouble at work. My job is pretty lax though so I'm not totally sure... 😅

Edit: Actually, looking at it, it is in fact getting blurred in my feed regardless of having an NSFW tag, so maybe I'm okay to just post without the tag? 🤷

  • Ahh, I see. Thanks for letting me know. Whelp, time to get the shovel I guess.

  • Thanks for the recommendations. I'll most likely watch the show first, then play the game then read the books! (Which is not what I'd normally do with something like the Witcher.)
