  • Interesting content, but I hate the presentation.

  • First the change from brawler to bog standard jrpg combat, now they're pulling shit like this. Yeah, this series is going downhill fast...

  • Okay. Do I need to be reminded of it every single fucking day I log into this god forsaken site?

  • Honestly the whole "putin bad" spam posting (not to mention scare mongering like this post) on the daily is getting tiresome to say the least. 😐

  • That's okay, you just need to get comfortable with me pirating your games... Then again that's Ubisoft, I don't think I even want to pirate their stuff.

  • I really dislike the new look. The first one had a simple but sleek aesthetic, this one just looks cheap and generic.

  • If you take a sola scriptura view and then read it through a lens that's been cultivated over years to reinforce patriarchy and supremacy (see e.g. Manifest Destiny, the curse of Ham, etc) then you will end up absorbing the genocidal and supremacist bits and not the hospitable and altruistic bits.

Agreed, over the years I've come to firmly believe the root cause of all the Christian extremism we have nowadays is the literal interpretation of the scripture by Evangelicals. When you take every word of that book as law and you refuse to acknowledge some of it shouldn't be relevant anymore, you end with some really absurd worldviews and beliefs. Especially in those small churches without affiliation to some larger religious body, without some authority dictating what is acceptable and what isn't, the insanity runs amok.

This is something I admire in the Catholic church, their willingness to reinterpret the Bible to current circumstances, they get a lot of flak (deservedly so) for some things, but at least they have that going for them.

  • Kakao (or whatever they're called) were going after everyone involved, so Tachiyomi has been deprecated, one of the devs forked it and will continue development.

  • Yes, but it doesn't matter, these people don't read the Bible. For them, it's just an excuse to do whatever it is they're doing.

  • Use Dantotsu. Right now it's broken because it uses Tachi's extensions, but they plan on fixing that.

  • I know you've said you don't want Skyrim, but the first thing that comes to mind is Oblivion, I can't think of a more generic, stereotypical fantasy RPG than that game.

In fact it makes me sad considering they retconned the lore of Cyrodil to a super generic LOTR fantasy land.

  • Likely. If not, there's always Dantotsu.

  • There are no women on the internet.

  • ... There's a Nazi joke in there somewhere.

  • My biggest problem has been that I find nearly all of the MPV-based players I’ve used (mpv-player itself, or stuff like IINA or Celluloid) either have a massive lack of configuration options, overly minimal UI, or both. On Windows, Mac, or Linux

Have you checked the manual? The amount of options is staggering, bordering on esoteric. The only catch is most of them need to be setup either through CLI or .ini files.

But it’s weird that so many players don’t offer you the ability to enable basic plugins. Or change playback speed. Or configure keybinds. Or continue playing the next file in a directory automatically. Or even offer the ability to display the most basic info about the file being played, like codecs. Etc etc.

I can't say anything for the frontends, but you can use plugins for basically anything in mpv itself, including the issues you've listed. Again, you need to setup the whole thing and read the manual, but it's there. And yes, I see the irony in all the effort needed to do basic stuff like this when something like VLC just works™, but to me that's the beauty of mpv, it's basic and minimalistic yet you can make it work however you like given time and patience.

Btw you can check the file info by pressing i on the keyboard while playing something.

  • Yeah... That's the problem with FOSS LLMs, either you have a whole expensive setup to run your own personal AI chatbot or you might as well just use ChatGPT.
