is mailcow the kind of thing where you can host your email server yourself without paying any reoccurring fees beyond your domain name? Im new to homelabs too and I've been wondering how to get started with that for a while. proton would be great for me if it was free but I'm really against reoccurring payments, I don't even have Netflix lol

I've never worked on an open source project before but what you're describing are all my favorite parts of working on my personal projects so far. lol maybe if I get an actually useful project idea I'll finally become an open source dev

yeah, that sums it up pretty well.

I think B and maybe it's easier to explain my reasoning with a more dramatic example. instead of people on a track, maybe the trolly is heading towards a 50 foot horizontal pole. when the trolly comes to the pole at 90mph, the pole is not moving. but after the trolley's portal has "swallowed" 40 feet of the pole, all 40 feet of that pole are exiting the portal at 90mph, being pushed by the 10 feet of pole that the trolly is still "swallowing", so the momentum of 40feet worth of pole would continue to launch the remaining mass of the pole out of the portal and it would be launched out instead of flopping to the ground.

if we go back to our people on a track example, I think this would also kill them as for people on either side of the portal, it would feel like they're being ran into at 90mph by the people on the other side of the portal.

did that all make sense?

as an aside, how has discord-screenaudio been working for you? I saw a couple reviews that said it might steal my discord credentials and held off getting it, but it'd be really nice to be able to share my screen with audio again

wooo! this is gonna make it so much easier to see if games will work on my hardware! I didn't realize it could be a big deal until I tried to start Forza horizon 5 on my PC. that had always worked decently on steam deck so I assumed it'd be fine on my PC too, but apparently Nvidia cards and Forza Really don't play nice together right now

as much as I hate it, I like the little nod to the imperfections of real constellations

maybe this will make more sense when I watch the veritasium video, but I don't have time to do that until the weekend. How is 3x+1 unprovable? won't all odd numbers multiplied by 3 still be odd? and won't adding 1 to an odd number always make it even? and aren't all even numbers by definition divisible by 2? I'm struggling to see how there could be any uncertainty in this
