  • ICEY might be a good one to check out. It mixes cynical untrostworthy narration (like from the Stanley parable) with a 2D side scrolling hack and slash. some people say it doesn't quite measure up on both fronts, but I enjoyed it. it has a nice art style too

  • as an American who just recently got into Linux, I genuinely thought he was a parody channel when I first found him. everything from his mannerisms to his motivations seems perfectly in line with the less than pleasant stereotypes of Linux dweebs, and I think if he was my only source of Linux content I probably wouldn't have gotten into Linux when I did.

  • I wish there were an option to see like 80-90% communities I'm subscribed to or following or whatever, and 10-20% posts from communities I'm not subscribed to that are getting a lot of activity. I mostly only want to see what I opt-in for, but a small amount of discovery would be nice

  • proton's honestly a great deal if you're gonna use the VPN and Password managers. nice easy drop-in replacement for Gmail imo, not much point putting a ton of effort into it since email is inherently insecure

  • how are you installing it? I've never heard of this game and I'm honestly pretty new to Linux, but I've had nothing but smooth sailing adding old windows games to steam as non-steam games, then using proton to launch them.

  • I've had the same experience with steam remote play, it works flawlessly outside my house, even off a hotspot from my phone! but in my house it's dog water, feels more like playing a slideshow built for the Gameboy advance

  • but [Linux] still has some way to go before you could use it as a gaming OS

maybe a nitpick, but I think it's more accurate to say it has some way to go before everyone could use it as a gaming OS. many many people can use it as is right now. All the games I play work great on Linux so far, I removed windows from my gaming PC months ago.

if you're already into Linux and you don't care about competitive games with anti cheat, then Linux is ready to be your gaming OS right now imo

  • yeah I did my own research on it (I clicked two YouTube videos) in the 3 hours since I posted that and now I kinda hate it for mysogeny and transphobia lol but I can kinda see the "haha, he's a nerd" hate too lol but tbh besides the transphobia and mysogeny I think it's a fine show tbh would put it on as something less painful to watch than the news when hanging out with my parents
