  • Mitch actually won the seat over a long time democrat. At the time he was considered an insane longshot but he had aid from Rodger Ailes. McConnell ended up winning in an upset.

  • You could look into forming a community ISP. Its often easier in rural areas because in cities the big telecom companies already own all the infrastructure needed to lay cable, in the country there's less red tape. Some guy in Michigan did it for himself and his neghbors then expanded to a few hundred people.

  • Regardless of if its true AI or not (I understand its just machine learning) Cameron's sentiment is still mostly true. The Terminator in the original film wasn't some digital being with true intelligence, it was just a machine designed with a single goal. There was no reasoning or planning really, just an algorithm that said "get weapons, kill Sarah Connor. It wasn't far off from an Boston Dynamics robot using machine learning to complete a task.

  • IIRC the original idea for the Terminator was for it to have the appearance of a regular guy on the street, the horror arising from the fact that anyone around you could actually be an emotionless killer.

    They ended up getting a 6 foot Austrian behemoth that could barely speak english. One of the greatest films ever made.

  • My flight got canceled out of O'Hare once, they changed my connecting flight's gate and it happened to be the same one my final flight was leaving from so there was no way I'd make it on. There wasn't another flight until the following evening so they comped me a hotel and gave me some meal vouchers. When I walked into the hotel I was greeted by hundreds of furries. The Midwest Furfest was going on at the convention center nearby.
