  • Honestly I think there’s a strong difference between people reacting to content who are adding value (eg adding meaning information, elaborating on their opinion, etc) and people who “react to content” just to get away with reposting the content. The second group tends to try to obscure as little of the original video as they can get away with and if you subscribe to them you effectively get a pre-curated list of somewhat interesting videos (if you can ignore their heads or a silly automated voiceover).

Sadly both groups often don’t credit the original creators, so whoever actually made the original content tends to be out of luck regarding getting their fair share of revenue or digital traffic.

  • Omg! Is THAT what they did? I remember when that movie came on tv and Ioved the road trip bit in the beginning and then it suddenly all stopped making sense all at once. I never watched it again because I didn’t realize that wasn’t just what the movie is. Mind blown. Thank you.

  • We just adopted a second cat to keep our first (supposedly cat hating) cat company. My new favorite sound is the pitter patter of their little paws as they play together every single morning and evening.

  • Eventually she noticed all of her children were pulling away. She had to go through a world full of pain to accept that her behavior might have something to do with it. I am still surprised that she even got to a point of accepting that. Whatever happens with your parents I hope you can find closure and happiness in your own way.

  • For almost all of my life I’d have said no. But after over a year of family therapy I think I now have a mother who sometimes listens. She needs to follow it up with an emotional guilt trip, but she does actually sometimes listen first. Baby steps I guess, but it’s more progress than I expected. And my father is… well… still my father. No chance there.

  • I mean, he seems to be hinting at that now, but he can’t really do anything else. “Whoops. Didn’t think this button I pushed would do that” is just not something he is able to say, even if it might be true. Then again it would be difficult doing something this extreme accidentally I would think.

  • If China stops exporting these to the US that should influence the trade deficit in the way Trump is looking for, right? Isn’t that what this was supposed to do according to Trump? So he should be happy about this, right? Because it’ll bring the manufacturing of the minerals home? /s

  • Technically I’m still on it. I just stopped interacting there. Might post on some of the niche crafting subreddits sometimes in the future because I miss those on here. For everything else Lemmy is far superior. Decided to “switch over” when I found out that half of my comments and posts got shadowbanned.

  • Good call. I have 2 hard dives and really thought that if I didn’t touch the win 11 drive it couldn’t possibly cause windows issues. Lol. Not making that mistake again.

  • I use a lot of adobe programs, like photoshop, illustrator and Lightroom. The standard MS office stuff and a bunch of games both via steam and the EA AppStore, some of which are windows only. Mind you, I know most if not all should work using wine (or similar) or have good alternatives. But I’d rather try first before nuking windows.

  • I tried setting up a dual boot Mint next to my Win 11 last night. Just so I can experiment with getting all the (replacement) programs of my Win 11 install to work on there… froze during install and was busy for hours getting my boot files for Win 11 back.

I’m not a technical genius or anything and now I’m scared to try again. I assume it’s way easier if I would just rip the bandaid off and do it in one go. Sadly too much relies on me still being able to use the computer close to the way I could before. Ah well. Another day, another chance to nuke the boot files.
