  • Keith’s note: a few minutes ago, during a routine pre-flight test, SpaceX Ship 36 blew up.

That and a video-clip of the explosion is all the info there is.

I have to hand it to them, they've become way more efficient, so they can now blow the ship up before launch! 🤣

  • Or you could buy a $200 phone like the Nokia G42, and then go with a cheaper service provider.
My wife chose that because she doesn't use her phone much, and it's built for home repair.
Turned out it is a way better phone than we expected. Mine cost about $800,- and there is no way I can say it's that much better.
I use a small service provider, that has their services through one of the biggest, but it costs less than half per month.
And when I buy a phone, I have complete freedom to choose whichever phone I want, disregarding limited service provider discounts.
And buying from free competition dealers, also gives a nice rebate.

  • The legality of the Iraq war is a contested subject, the question is whether Iraq broke international law or not.
In my opinion they there wasn't reliable evidence that they did, because I found it pretty obvious that we were mislead by the Americans. But Germany denounced the invasion and did NOT aid USA, apart from the use of the base in Germany, which would have been very extreme for Germany to deny.

Unfortunately my own country actively helped USA, and I was both pissed and disappointed about that. Denmark has been so far up the American ass it's insane, as also 7 eyes member and spying on EU countries for USA! Fortunately election of Trump for a 2nd term, has FINALLY made them wake up.

So in conclusion: Compared to many European countries, Germany actually did well, refusing the American war mongering at least partially.

  • I was unsure if this could really be true, but the story is confirmed by for instance DW:
    https://www.dw.com/en/germanys-merz-says-israel-doing-dirty-work-for-us-in-iran/live-72939104

This is a very bad turn. The attack was unprovoked, and based on clearly Israels one sided interests. Not much different from Russia attacking Ukraine.
It's bad that any European leader support this, and it's very bad that Germany is making such a 180° on previous policies of peaceful solutions in the region. For instance being against the invasion of Iraq, a war that resulted in Iran having more influence there than ever.

  • Seems like USA is entering a recession now. Well done Americans for electing Trump to ruin everything, when things were looking up with Biden.
Are there still morons stupid enough to claim Republicans are good for the economy?

  • I think being a democracy is a requirement for being in the G7, I'm not sure we can still say USA is a democracy. They sure are breaking almost every ideal that comes with being a democracy.
With what USA is now we might as well invite China into G8.

  • People have a right to be stupid, though.

Yes but regarding culture people always talk about how we need to preserve culture, obviously we shouldn't actively work to preserve stupidity.
And religion is stupid superstition and doesn't deserve to be preserved, and where it is demonstrably harmful to others, it should definitely not be allowed.

It's no different than Nazi propaganda and organisations being illegal in most countries.

Can I decide which parts of your culture don’t agree with MY values and take that away from you?

If parts of our culture is demonstrably harmful, it is in our own interests to remove those parts. Racism would be a good example. And we are working on it, but somehow people keep being racist.

  • So you are saying that instead of closing the monastery, they should relocate the towns!
Are you aware how much people are against being relocated?
Also that's like punishing the victim instead of the villain.

  • I asked for specifics on how children in monasteries are abused,

Really? Are you sure you really want to go there?
Taken from their parents or abandoned, and forced to a life in religious insanity and celibacy?

There is no way any sensible child care worker wouldn't take those children away.
