Trying to piece things together it sounds like the beef is with lemmy.ml maintainers and not Lemmy in general. This is what federation's all about: You like the product but don't like how it's being used, so you switch to using instances that are used the way you like and support those instances in kind, all while blocking and/or criticizing the instances you don't like without risking having your access revoked.

Pretty much what I was referring to. I think the difference is a matter of motivation. Fascists want power and complete control, neoliberals don't, but either one would applaude streets paved with dead bodies if it lowered costs by 10%.

Given that Trump has fired several immigrants judges (hard to get a good number but at least 20 it seems) since the start of his term he actually doesn't care about processing cases as quickly as possible. Cruelty is the point. They're hoping people will "self-deport" out of fear.

Economic hardship is about the only thing we all understand. It's still important, I feel, to make it about the economy though. If Canada effectively sanctioned us because we banned abortions that would likely backfire.
