Don't take anything for granted. Texas has been on the verge of going blue for years but people don't show up for midterms and the GOP has been doing their best to make the state unlivable unless you just enjoy suffering or watching others suffer. They'll also make any excuse to make voting harder unless you're in a rural county.

They won't respect the "sanctity of marriage" by treating an immigrant spouse as a citizen... or respect marriage at all when they cheat on their wives while they're pregnant. They want to bring back state-sanctioned bigotry, that's it.

That's because efficiency isn't the goal. They're firing people just to hire them back and rewriting code that works fine simply because it's old.

I think this approach is going to fair the best for mainstream adoption (i.e. Windows refugees). So I would agree that the "future" is going to involve immutable distros as a large, possibly majority, of all Linux installations.

The sane thing would be for his Alma Mater to retroactively pull his diploma and any record of his attendance, his bank to close his account and send him a check (minus fees), his landlord to evict him, his cell and Internet service disconnected, and for him to be disbarred. Yeah, this is the kind of stuff a fascist regime would do to opponents but I'm really fucking fed up with how we pretty much accept Nazis to live and breath alongside us so long as they don't physically violate someone's person or property.

I think it's too little too late. Not for Gates but for this kind of philanthropy. We need it, yes, but corrupt governments can outlast goodwill. He needs to be exerting influence. He and other so-called "good billionaires" need to be the anti-Musk, not the ones that walk behind him and clean up his messes. Make more Tesla and Starlink and Amazon competitors with air-tight bylaws to keep them from turning into the thing we're trying to destroy. Don't just show compassion but how we can have a compassionate and sustainable economy.

Sentencing is still part of the carriage of justice. Fake statements like this should not be allowed until after all verdicts and punishments are decided.

I hope they win that appeal an get a new sentencing or a new trial even. That sounds like a horrible misuse of someone's likeness. Even if my family used a direct quote from me I'd be PISSED if they recreated my face and voice without my permission.
