  • First time?

Halo (combat evolved) came out when I was a junior in highschool.

Before that, it was GoldenEye and then Perfect Dark.

And I even got to play some Timesplitters at PS2 launch because the rich kid got the multitap and extra controllers.

Heck, we're (significantly) farther away from the CE anniversary launch than it was from the original.

  • My cynical conspiracy theory is that this is an inside job to deplete units for insurance money and to manufacture scarcity.

Gotta stop giving them insurance claims so they're left holding the bag.

    Ok, I guess a few doesn't hurt.

  • I celebrated and honked for the protesters outside the Monterey Tesla dealer this morning.

My favorite cyber truck anecdote so far is watching them load about ¾ of the number of bags of mulch than fits in the back of my Volvo, then the owner struggling to pack it all in so he could close the cover.

It's a truck, why didn't they buy the bulk mulch for a third of the price? Cosplay posers.

  • So, I've seen this "centibillionaire" title a few times, but I believe it should be hecto(a?)billionaire if I have my metric prefixes correct.

    E.g. a centimeter is a hundredth of a meter, so a hundredth of a billion is 10mil.

    Shout-out to !anythingbutmetric@discuss.tchncs.de

Or maybe I'm out of the loop on the joke.

  • Because he can't see past correlation to causation.

... Not that any sane person actually expected better, of course.

But the fact he's caving on auto manufacturing tariffs means he is correctable. A good, if meager signal. Although, I can't imagine how many showers I'd need to feel ok about whatever I had to say to or do to sway him.

On second thought, fuck those corpos too. They're not doing it for the right reasons either. If it happens to protect a few jobs in the short term, then good, I suppose. But I don't for a second expect there won't also be layoffs to further pad executive bonuses in the name of "shareholder value".

  • Here's what I sent my rep:

    Congressman Panetta,

As a constituent, I find the so-called "Take it Down" act terrifying especially in light of the President's casual mention of personal use during his address to the joint meeting.

I have not seen any indication on your position as yet, but please actively campaign against it, and pressure our close neighbors Ro Khanna and Jim Costa, who are on the record supporting it to withdraw their support.

The only use this bill has for the authors is to limit freedom of speech and press.
