  • Have to second the sightseeing.

    We demand piccys!

  • Punching billies w/ that thing would send you straight to ICU.

I'm sure someone's tried it though lol.

  • Would never have thought as a kid I'd some day be excited to wake up early and appraise the damage the new cheapo weed burner has inflicted from the day before.

It's very relaxing for some reason.

Also the new ICU at st. vincents is very impressive. the ones I've been to before are depressing af, but that one has a huge amount of space (and less noise) which is way less confronting for patients. ol' girl was complaining about being bored and not annoyed which is good.

  • Thankfully ol' girl's op went mainly well yesterday. Hopefully moving out of ICU back into the ward today or tm. Knew it was somewhat major surgery but not really ICU.

Probs going into care/rehab afterards for a bit which will piss her off. With any luck might be able to bring her in some proper soup in a week or 2.

So bit of a waiting game to see what recovery is like and go from there.

  • Big thanks to everyone yesterday for the kind advice and support for the ol' girl.

Sometimes it's difficult to speak about health concerns to others and be listened to, but not here which I'm very grateful for.

  • Wish me all the focus

You got this. You know you do :)

  • First time holding a bubs.

    easier than holding a cat.

  • expect Ol’ Girl to cook

    Yep.

The problem is she can only eat soup, which he won't eat. Expecting her to cook 2 different things in recovery is just not reasonable. She wants to be seen that she's cooking (as weird as that sounds) but she's increasingly making poor decisions in the kitchen.

The expectation that she cooks for him has been there for decades and it's pretty much dangerous now (hot liquids / poor eyesight / weak etc.).

Made a whole bunch in the last few days so she'll be fine. Just pisses me off there hasn't been an effort by ol' boy.

  • Ol' girl goes in for her colectomy tm. In for a week +.

Bit worried about the recovery as she weighs bugger all. Definitely not going in in the best of shapes. I've locked horns w/ the ol' boy way too many times but the main thing is food.

Dude can't cook and that will be a problem.

How the fuck you can go through life and best you can do is a crumpet or overdone steak is beyond me. Hasn't even tried once.

I understand that generation is a bit different w/ gender roles etc. but following a recipe isn't exactly hard.

Ffs, drop the 'it's a womans job' shit mentality and learn. Seriously stuck in the 1950's.

    Thanks for reading my rant.

  • Been > a month since I've been down. Miss the place but not (!) looking forward to the weeds. Chilli patch is probably 90% oxalis by now :(

  • Here's a little birdo that comes to visit. Not often but did today.

No idea what it is but it hovers ever so gracefully for the nectar. Loves the red flowers.

  • Bacon refuses donut orders.

  • When looking after hambam I smeared mine with chilli paste after he chewed through (thankfully) the DC part of a laptop charger lol.

    Worked well.

  • Back home.

I will miss doggo and all his quirks.

I did leave him some bad habits which Aunt will not appreciate.

Also will miss the community vibe in that suburb. Even though I'm literally 1 suburb away, the difference is pretty crazy.

  • Hambam steals my trackies, lies down and just looks at me for no reason.

  • Second last day w/ hams.

Pushed him pretty hard today (twice) and now he's pulled his monkey from the toy box to hold his hand to pass out.

I've never seen a dog do that.

  • Nearing the end of looking after hambam.

Seen a big shift in behaviour over the last 3 and a bit weeks. All it took was wearing him out and giving him more off lead freedom.

I'll miss his burps and random little sleep / dream woofing throughout the night.

  • Well the punches keep rolling for the ol' girl.

Just learned yesterday big C. in the bowel. Looks like IV.

The last 8 months have been hell for her ever since that fall and now completely unrelated.. this. Pretty limited therapy when pushing 80yo. She'll be going in for an op but chemo/radio is out of the question. Working out the spread basically means just working out (guessing) how long.

    Universe can be cruel.

e: Thanks all for the kind words.
