Authoritarians are masters of compartmentalization. They cannot and will not connect any dots that conflict with their predetermined world view. Their brains do not function rationally and they are incapable of drawing rational conclusions.

There is a great free book on this topic with years of research behind it.

I was raised evangelical but am now thoroughly deconstructed. There’s some interesting things here, but keep in mind that all “prophesy” is designed to be interpretive.

While a lot of the claims of the person above do have scriptural origins, there are a few problems. What I am about to provide is done so for academic purposes, not religious or ideological ones. I do not believe in or endorse religious scripture, but I am bothered by how casually and rampantly it is misrepresented for religious or political gain, as if it isn’t readily available to read in it’s original languages and contexts.

1. “Antichrist” is a movement/ideology/attitude, not a single person. It literally implies opposition to the teachings of Christ. It’s easy to point out how antichrist attitudes are prolific in this day and age. The very people who claim to carry Jesus legacy are the ones overwhelmingly acting in stark contrast to his commands.
2. A lot of what gets attributes to “the antichrist” is actually one of several other end-times characters, usually “The Beast” or “The False Prophet.” Many of the scriptures referenced above are about The Beast.
3. The Beast of Revelation is not defeated by courts, but by Jesus himself during a battle (Rev 19).

In my own anecdotal experience, it’s been a lot better here, but I’m sure instance, communities, etc all have an impact. I have noticed a slight uptick in toxicity recently, but once I started using Voyager’s tagging feature I realized the perpetrators are almost always the same 4 people.

I’m really happy to see Bazzite climbing the chart. It’s by far the best gaming-centric Linux distro.

I’m not sure I will ever understand the appeal of Linux Mint. Not because it’s bad, but because there are better distros for every use-case I can think up, especially gaming.

If the people who object to slop figuratively crucify real human artists for creating real human art, then they are the baddies.

You can see particles on the concrete wall in the background. You can see how the physical objects in the image interact with one another. AI is good at replicating compositions, but you spot it by the details. At least, for now. This image is definitely real.

There is something special about photography. Photographs capture something real, a physical point in time. What you see really existed.

The problem with AI slop is that it gets better by the day and if you want to appreciate that single physical point in time that a photo represents, knowing that makes it special in ways that AI is not.

Likewise, created art is a window into someone’s mind and soul. Knowing this also makes those works special in ways that AI is not.

That said, the way certain communities crusade against AI is hurting actual, human artists. Especially those whose work skews toward the surreal. That is not ethical behavior and needs to be curbed.

I remember trying to warn people on Reddit that their anti-AI crusades were going to hurt real people making real art, especially surrealists, and got banned from a bunch of art subs for being “pro-AI” as a result. Actually, they phrased it in far more hurtful and inflammatory ways, like “advocating theft.” Apparently caring about not hurting real human beings making real human art is “advocating theft.”

I don’t miss Reddit. That place was bad for my mental health.

What do you mean? Leftism is the even distribution of authority and Rightism is the concentration of authority. Leftism is the polar opposite of authoritarianism by definition.

Thunderbird is fine as a mail client. It doesn’t provide any email service, though.

For email service, Proton and Fastmail are top choices. Proton requires a “bridge” app in order to use clients like Thunderbird. On mobile, Proton only works via the Proton app.

As for clients, again, Thunderbird is fine. Betterbird is a better choice if you like Thunderbird but wish it weren’t so rough around the edges. If you are on Linux, I actually prefer Evolution to Betterbird/Thunderbird.

California has a reputation for being liberal, leftist, and progressive… but remember that the vast, overwhelming majority of farmers in the state are as fascist and blindly, religiously Republican as the most red parts of the most red states. They voted for this.

So parents have the right to opt their kids out instruction that includes straight and/or cis themes too, yes?

Simply using the term “both sides” is problematic, and not just because it’s a binary fallacy. There aren’t just two sides. It’s misrepresents a system in which there is one single, unified group that engages in violent, oppressive, lawless fascism… and then there is everyone else, covering a nearly infinite variety of ideologies and goals, and many of whom have no representation.

The phrase “both sides” as it is, itself, misinformation and propaganda.

Why!? You aren’t going to beat TACO with CACO, for heaven’s sake.
