  • I mean I was born in 2006, and have only been on Reddit for a few months. The only reason I came here is because Reddit banned me, which is the same reason I suspect 99% of Lemmy users are here for. At the end of the day, I've just found that if I'm posting to vent or to ask a question, I'd rather get 100 responses in an hour than 1 response two days from now

  • Reddit @lemmy.world

Lemmy/ the Fediverse is not a viable alternative to Reddit

  • I totally get that, honestly it's humiliating too. Any time I get permabanned from a subreddit for breaking some obscure, minor rule in one of my posts, I basically have to get on me knees and weep and suck the dick of the mods, because if I even lightly insinuate any sort of mistake or anything on their part, I'm told to fuck off and they keep my ban in place.

  • I exclusively use Lemmy to complain when my new Reddit account gets shadowbanned again. The issue is that the communities here simply are not big enough. I go on the Lemmy alternatives of the subreddits I visit often and there are like 4 posts over the course of multiple years

Will a higher-quality VPN like Nord VPN help dodge a ban?

  • I don't think Reddit is either super left or right, it's just radical. Every opinion stated on the platform is always taken to the absolute extreme, but I would say only a select few popular subs like r/unpopularopinion tend to lean left, but then again I would even argue that they are more libertarian or anarchist if anything

  • comment removal from a sub, can trigger a filter and flag your account to be banned down the line or immediately

I've noticed that as well. Sometimes I'll have a solid 3-day streak of making a new account and using it without any issues, and then the instant I get a post removed from a sub for breaking some obscure rule, the AI will seek me out like sharks in water and suspend me instantly

  • They haven't responded because their support team doesn't exist. Real humans don't look at theappeals, bots do, so every single time you send one in, you may as well be sending a letter into the abyss of space

  • So here's the thing, it very much still could be ban evasion. Reddit's ban systems are able to detect things as minute as writing style and political views, so if you basically wrote in the same way you did before and held the same beliefs, they very likely were able to trace it back to you. It's utterly insane

  • If they want to populate the site with ads then honestly they should just make you watch an ad before posting or commenting something. Sure it would be a PR nightmare, but it would be far better then the shady user purging they are doing now, and at the end of the day, at least everyone would be able to post

  • Yeah that's the issue, Reddit is the only platform to actually have that infrastructure built up. Quora is not nearly as good, and Discord is Discord, so once Reddit purges you off the site there is basically nowhere to go because places like Digg and Lemmy just simply do not have enough people.

I think Reddit is trying to shift their platform into a media sharing social (like Instagram) rather than a discussion forum

    Reddit @lemmy.world

Reddit is becoming a literal wasteland of dead accounts

    Reddit @lemmy.world

Is there any way to get in contact with a Reddit admit regarding a ban?

    Reddit @lemmy.world

I have tried everything and I still cannot bypass my IP ban

    Reddit @lemmy.world

How do I dodge a permaban?

    Reddit @lemmy.world

Why does my Reddit account get insta-banned every single time I make a new account and post it?
