  • I got bad family news in early November. Another death. It was somebody else that I never got to meet, but was directly and quite closely related to me

I've been thinking about it for a few months, and have even brought it up with my psych, but nothing's really helped. It's weird because I know that I'm meant to feel something, and indeed do feel something, but it's unidentifiable and not overwhelming emotion

Apparently 2 days before he died, he tried to get in contact with me through child protection. Because of bureaucracy, I didn't find out about it until over 2 weeks later. That made it worse. Nobody knows what the message was, but trying to contact me was one of the last things he ever did :/

  • Maybe I'm weird, but I would've interpreted that as metaphorically walking, around money. Like passing up on a higher paying job, or not doing something dodgy for a bit of money

E: actually, don't answer. I already know I'm weird - nobody needs to confirm!

  • I tried tofu for the first time today. Honestly, I'm a pretty big fan. I didn't try it in anything fancy, just a small fried rice. I wasn't sure I was like it, but tbh I don't think I would've noticed anything wrong if they told me it was a chicken fried rice

  • My psych allows me to change to a telehealth appointment with 5 minutes notice if needed. If you think you can manage it, perhaps it might be worth checking if that's an option?

I'd Def's be bailing on work though. Maybe an extra couple of hours lie in might help, even a tiny bit

Fingers crossed you feel better soon though tiny!

  • Aw poor babies. I know they sometimes enter what's known as a death spiral, where they follow each others scent until eventually they all die. Not sure if this would cause the same thing, or they'd eventually snap out of it

  • Knives purchased ✅

Had an extra set of hands to help with the unpacking today. I've found it too difficult to get started on my own, even though I'm physically capable of lifting and moving things. Bit of a mental block I think

Update: we got through a bit. Unpacked a few boxes, moved a bookshelf, unloaded books, and I've started organizing the 2 categories of things (tech related + paperwork/instructions) into separate boxes. A few "oh yeah, forgot about that"s. Out of mojo now though

  • Oh, kind thought springsy, but it's all good! I'd still have troubles at the OP shop. Think it's up to something like a 2k fine for selling me a knife :/

I'm good on cutlery now, too. Opened up and washed all of my new stuff that I hadn't needed yet. Cutlery drawer is happier now

(Much to everybody here's dismay, I've been forced to go spoons > forks > knives because the butter knives are too long for the left compartment and only fit in the one on the right

  • Perhaps you should take a little bit of your own advice. I wasn't "targeting" anybody, either accidentally or intentionally. You and I have both been here for over a year and a half, surely you've seen me around here for long enough to at offer me a bit of benefit of the doubt, and attribute anything I say that offends you to obliviousness, not malice?

I've never even heard "chud" used pejoratively before, so I especially don't understand why you'd jump to assuming that was a personal attack of any kind. In any case, I will be more careful about how I word things in the future, but you getting offended, downloading me, and then just replying with "..." did absolutely nothing to communicate that you were upset and what I was supposed to have done

  • That's their display name. Display names are different to usernames. You'll see their username if you click their profile, or use a third party app that only shows usernames.

Did you really have to be such a dick about it? ffs.

  • This is the one I've been eyeing. Currently got just this little guy

Only kmart for now. One day (again when the budget allows), I'll get some of those higher end knives. Probably good to start with cheapies while I'm still getting my head around the whole cooking thing anyways!

  • What's wrong?

The original comment was by StudChud. I was replying to you primarily, and then them secondarily, in case they happened to read the 2nd part of my comment. It didn't really seem important enough to post a 2nd comment about. Sorry if it confused you, but I don't think the down vote was really necessary.
