  • As several people have mentioned, it's for lights. The reason is, in Norway any electrical work needs to be done or certified by a licensed electrician. Since light fixtures are a fairly commonly replaced item, the current trend is for ceiling mount points to come with a nearby electrical plug so you can switch out a light fixture without shelling out for an electrician. These power outlets are connected to a switch elsewhere so you can flick the lights on and off like normal.

  • Not one of those who downvoted you. But I have a question. This is obviously cringy and immoral on so many levels. But would it be considered harassment if:

    1. The FIL is sending this as a one off and never bringing it up again
    2. He's not getting mad or otherwise being offended at OP

    Basically, my question is what makes this harassment as opposed to an unwelcome sexual advance?

  • Since you mentioned it - organ donation should be opt out, not opt in. It wouldn't even be controversial, everybody still has freedom of choice.
