  • Who has money to pay for name brand anything these days. It also doesn't help that their product sucks. Seriously I had to buy a bag of their chicken wings the other week and the product was mostly breadcrumbs and tiny little chicken drumsticks. These companies practice the worst sort of shrinkflation and then act surprised when people stop buying their product.

  • I come from a family like this and my husband's family did the same. Coincidentally my husband and I also share the same first letter. Our family gatherings can get confusing so most of us have family nicknames.

  • I just finished Talos Principle 2 and what a ride! I love Turing Test too and would also suggest Spectrum Retreat to scratch that puzzling itch.

  • American here. I try to remember that other folks outside the US don't have the same negative association we do with that word. It certainly helps ease the stigma I have for it when it's said in good fun in a conversation. I still can't bring myself to say it or write it often though.

  • Here are some short games that I enjoyed: Untitled Goose Game, Alba: A Wildlife Adventure, Donut County, Firewatch, Tangle Tower, Agent A: A Puzzle in Disguise, What Remains of Edith Finch, Spectrum Retreat, Dust: An Elysian Tale

  • My very first big purchase as an "adult" was a nice real leather jacket which I too got on sale. I still have it well over two decades later. I would say though I got an LL Bean coat for an Xmas gift one year and it is by far my favorite coat ever. It's rated for -40 degree weather and built to last. I would have never spent the money on such a thing for myself but having it makes a world of difference to me (I'm very cold sensitive). I will most definitely shell out the money for a replacement when the time comes.

  • I know it's older but recently I've been listening to Ologies by Allie Ward. She explores all the different types of science, she's funny, and she finds people who are really passionate about their field of work.

  • I love how the article makes it sound like she signed herself out AMA. I am certain they left her to rot in the waiting room for hours each time until she gave up on waiting and went home. You don't have to sign AMA papers to leave and the hospital can still write it up that way (and charge your insurance).

  • Scrubs are definitely PJs in disguise.

  • Well if we're going this route I would like to add in Kung Pow. I would've loved to see the sequel they teased at the end.

  • Seeing the moon and stargazing in general. Oh and everytime I see a picture come back from the Perseverance Rover. I just look at them in absolute wonder and still find it unbelievable that we have clear pictures coming back from Mars. Every new picture is like Xmas for me.

  • Sounds to me like they are modern day resurrectionists for the local med school. I really hope the FDA takes a closer look at the med school's procurement and documentation of human specimens.

  • Can someone Photoshop this to say Microsoft because that's exactly how I feel at work.

  • Omg yes!!! I was just ranting the other day that all these drug shortages should come with consequences to the companies. (Looking at you Ozempic) If you can't produce enough of your drug to keep up with demand then other companies should get a chance at making it. It shouldn't be the patients that have to suffer.

  • This is how I use control with lucid dreaming. If something is taking a wrong turn I just say "No" and either remove the bad part or rewind on something that doesn't make sense. I don't really want to actively control the dream because I want to know what my subconscious is trying to tell me.

  • I'm still playing Animal Crossing at the moment but I did just pick up Cult of the Lamb for the Thanksgiving sale. And my husband has been killing himself trying to learn how to survive in Don't Starve. It's been very entertaining.

  • I was shocked a few weeks ago that I had to get an assistant override for buying DayQuil. I mean I guess it makes sense but I would have gone through a regular cashier lane if I had known. They should be able to scan your ID considering most of them have cameras on them now.

  • It's funny you mention this. It was really weird the first time one of my coworkers referred to me as "Miss" plus my first name. In the southeast US, this is a common way to show respect to an older woman that you consider a friend too.

  • Saying "females" is just one step above saying "bitches." That's how it hits my ear at any rate.
