What’s going on with your capitalization? I spent way too much time looking for hidden messages and came away with nothing except the - entirely unrelated - hypothesis that you are German.

It wasn’t actually Hemingway. Versions of the story can be found from 1906 when Hemingway was 7, and there is apparently no mention of a connection between him and the story before the 1990s.

It doesn't matter if Musk’s party is centrist or far right. The point is, if it pulled enough support to destabilize 2 party elections, that opens up space for more parties to legitimately enter the political arena. It could cause a domino effect that would open space for the rise of a true left party.

That could be a great thing. If Musk launched a party with large enough base support of clueless morons to destabilize both Rep and Dem parties, that would create space for the creation of a liberal/left party, and suddenly we have escaped the crushing gravity of the two-party system.

That said, I doubt Musks party would have even a fraction of the support that is suggested.

That’s a fair question. My most honest answer isn’t a very good one: I can’t stand it.

Linguistically, I don’t get it. “Fixing to” doesn’t seem to offer any benefit over “about to” or “going to” and as far as I can tell it doesn’t have any logical meaning at all.

Fair enough. I do think that connotation doesn’t necessarily carry over to the “gonna” and “finna” forms, but it’s a good point.

That said, “fixing to” still grates on my brain in ways I can’t begin to describe.

“Going to” is far superior to “fixing to,” so I don’t know what you are talking about.

At 65 out of 1254 miles, I think we’re a long way from half-fenced.

What the heck is the origin of this meme template? And am I the only one who thought this was Roger Stone?

Because the teacher is wrong and it’s an idiotic question.

The question asks the child to explain how Marty ate more pizza than Luis. “He didn’t” is not an appropriate answer to that question.

We know that Marty and Louis didn’t eat from the same pizza, because Marty ate 4/6 of a pizza and Luis ate 5/6 of a pizza. We also know that Marty did eat more, because it’s right there in the question.

The only logical answer is that Marty’s pizza is bigger, and so 4/6 of his pizza amounts to more pizza than 5/6 of Luis’s smaller pizza.

The question should have been “Marty ate 4/6 of a pizza and Luis ate 5/6 of a pizza. Explain who ate more pizza.”

That looks like my writing now, and I’m in my 30s.
