  • RSS readers just fetch a certain .rss file from a website and render that for you. RSS is a simple tool, it's not even comparable to something like ActivityPub.

You also have no way of discovering new stuff, you have to find them yourself. Whereas with ActivityPub you can. Nor can you interact with the feed objects (comment, like, etc).

  • You don't expect us to literally review and find the issues of the whole code, do you? More context, please.

  • Have fun attempting to take down the decentralized torrenting network.

  • My first impression was "what the fuck". Then some questions arose, like how much it would hurt to spread someone's asshole like that.

  • I am not really interested in anuses, but I searched for it anyway.

  • Is the last one real? Has any sane dev made something like that monstrosity? It's not like the others are any better, but who would ever think of doing the last one and why?

  • Is the joke supposed to be about mickey spreading an asshole for that silver mickey part to go inside of it?

  • It's probably better if you move to some EU country that treats your privacy better at this point.

  • It's an interesting read to see how Kernel developers argue and think.

You sound like some mad scientist experimenting with kernel devs.

  • Art and music class in middle school. Literally useless. Fortunately, we no longer do such useless classes in high school. I pretty much lived my life through middle school without friends, so I hated the art class even more because we sometimes got grouped together to make some "art".

  • He is accompanied by a well-read, misanthropic, telepathic dog named Blood, who helps him find women to rape, in exchange for which Vic finds food for the dog.

    what a great movie.

  • That won't do. Bookwyrm is written in Python, while mine will be written in Rust. I also just planned things out and seems like this federated anime tracker will have to wait a few years or release itself as a generic audiovisual content tracker. The thing is, I can't seem to find a source for the animes and mangas, I might consider scraping but it's somewhat risky and takes a lot of time. I considered making an open source database for all anime related things. This federated anime tracker then would get dumps of that database daily and work that way. I only found vndb which gave dumps of their database, but MyAnimeList, AniList, aniDB etc don't seem to give dumps of their databases.

  • It actually feels like in a few years, the year of the linux desktop will become real. Not even joking.

  • Nope. Discuit is not a part of the fediverse. They also seem to dislike the fediverse, as far as calling it something that can never become mainstream any day soon.

Because of centralization and the dev's delusions of being able to cover the fees for running the service can be fully provided by donations will eventually get it to be enshittified. What a beautiful person.

  • Cool, I guess? Alternative to the official book. They also provide a schedule for you, lol.

  • It would possibly be enshittified like others. The whole purpose of decentralization would be broken and it would become one single centralized website.

This is why I advise people to lead people to other instances than lemmy.world. That instance is getting too big and the other instances aren't. We instead should balance the user count in all instances. And possibly finish the implementation to own content in a decentralized fashion using DIDs. That will need something like the blockchain though, so perhaps we could also have a fediverse coin as a bonus? lol

  • I hate to bring this up to you, but you seem to be losing your humanity as we speak.
