  • Basically every government planned for what has been the norm over the entirety of human history. Which seemed logical up until recently. That means for decades policy and economic decisions were based on the idea that every generation would be equal to or greater in size than the previous one.

The knock on effects of these assumptions are the reason government pension programs like social security are a concern world wide. People are living longer and less people are paying into the systems. This is an issue with nearly all government programs. There are less people paying taxes, paying into social programs. Costs are not going down anytime soon. It's a recipe for instability.

  • Unfortunately almost all these studies are financed by some lobbying group or food industry group. There's a disturbing amount of misinformation and studies out there. What's "healthy" seems to change every 5-10 years. Low fat foods just had more sugar, which all the studies show is bad for you.

The obvious answer is always that anything you know isn't healthy, fat, sugar, simple starches, dairy should all be consumed in moderation as part of a balanced diet and people need to eat an appropriate amount of calories. Eat more vegetables and healthy fruits. Less processed food. Ignore anything that's weird trendy bullshit.

  • I quit looking at Facebook so, so long ago and stopped posting anything myself well before I stopped visiting. In my experience the only people still posting are people I didn't want to see anything from or just sponsored content, ads and people pushing their businesses. Everything's so monetized, curated and awful.

  • They did, at least the first seasons were on back to back. Both had amazing first seasons and fell off rarher badly. Great concepts that seemed like they were under funded and could of been something special if handled properly.

I remember being pumped thinking it was the revival of the sci-fi channel. Then it just all went to shit.

  • It's almost like a terribly under funded government system with horrible pay that can be soul crushing doesn't attract the best possible employees. I'm sure they know that woman is a horrible zealot who they'd love to replace. There's no one that wants that job though.

Social services in America are embarrassing. Like it's strait up shameful how bad our systems that are required for a functional society are ran. Reagan successfully demonized government spending as "wasteful" on anything a perfect American nuclear family wouldn't need. Now everything is shit and the answer to needing government assistance for anything is good luck.

  • Austerity is never advised in a situation where ANYTHING is going to work. It's the equivalent of trying to tighten your budget when you lose your job. It could possibly help a little but it's not going to fix it.
