You can believe what you want to believe, you didn't say it in a hateful way at all.
I'm curious about what your opinion would be of trans people going through HRT though. When starting hormone therapy you are warned of potential changes to your sexuality. I am transfem, and prior to transitioning I was bi. Since starting HRT, I tend to have an aversion to men sexually and am more lesbian aligned now.
I guess that is fluidity and environmental factors, but biological factors even still.
Other people meanwhile experience the opposite effect (which is what I expected) or none at all.
Only states with one political leaning are mandating changes to the course curriculum to try to stave off queer youth and rewrite history. To undermine the historical significance of their actions. Pearson and every other major textbook brand has had to alter their curriculum for states such as Texas and North Carolina.
You call people who view things from a different scope emotional, but I'm ultimately concerned about my safety, and the safety of everyone I care about.
Only one side is dogwhistling against minorities, and when it comes to trans people, advocating for outright "elimination of transgenderism". They want us removed from the public eye, and will do everything they can to achieve it. Legislating access to healthcare away from us, jeopardizing our safety, and encouraging their base by trying to say it's morally just. While the "live and let live" types such as yourself don't see the insidious nature happening along party lines. Trans people simply don't matter enough to the average Republican, so no matter what they say, as long as the taxes are lower for them, who cares if some minorities have to suffer for it?
A lot of it stems from sexist views, and revolves around beauty standards. Bad faith arguments like "women's spaces"/sports, may seem reasonable upfront even.
The end result ends up with cis women also under threat due to a multitude of factors. Deep voice, gender nonconformity, hormonal disorders, intersex people, the list goes on.
Cis children are being harassed in Canada, cis women have been harassed in bathrooms. "Transvestigators" love to spend their time trying to clock people.
Absolutely, though there tends to be a lot more visibility, and potential for harm. Not to understate the harm done during the aids crisis. I could maybe be scared back into the closet jk death before detransition, but transphobia harms cis women too. I shouldn't know several people who have had to flee their home states due to Republican led legislation, but I do. I shouldn't know people who lost access to their medication, some people who need it post GRS, but I do.
There's a LOT to be said about the subject. My existence shouldnt fall on party lines, but here we are.
I work and converse with people globally, as much as I love the idea of being able to use seasons as a marker of time like that, it's just not possible.
The vibe can vary pretty drastically from instance to instance, regardless of federation. Ultimately in the bigger communities it doesn't matter at all though
It's not even that people are unwilling, the problem is that personal sacrifices are a mere drop in the bucket compared to industry pollution.
The problem with industry pollution is that it happens in the shadows. Supporting greener products is fantastic, but so many are in dire situations where they are unable to spend the money to support the extra cost.
That being said, while I appreciate the sentiment of "dress how ya want" and I truly believe you're genuine in saying that. Plenty of those who say that do not mean it though, and will be the first to throw stones. Which is why I ask you have just a little compassion on the matter. I know some people can be a lot. But most are just trying to get by, just like you and I.
Trans people have always existed and weren't even on people's radar until we became the focus of a "culture war". This is something I denied and battled internally for 15+ years before I decided to actually pursue it; I am markedly less passable as a result, but that's what the "rational" transphobes want right? Wait until you're a fully developed adult before making that choice? I did. My voice might be on the deep end of things, but I get gendered correctly in public by total strangers. So while I appreciate my life being called a trend, I can assure you it's not.
Now, while I worry about my personal safety by way of being hate crimed in public due to some shitty rhetoric; you can keep posting about getting "bullied" online. Hope this clears things up <3
Fedora with Cinnamon desktop has been gooood to me. Admittedly it's on a Thinkpad
