  • Oh, I get it.

My country starts invading another innocent one and killing its civilians and I just go about my life with a smile because I’m frightened to speak up.

You teach your kids that weak shit? Home of the brave and all that?

  • No, it’s like saying that literally 3 in every 4 Russians you meet anywhere are all for invading Ukraine, while the remaining 25% aren’t sure, don’t care, or are outright against it.

You know only 44% of Germans voted for Hitler, right?

  • I don’t think Russians oppose the war. Everything I’m reading is somewhere between 75% and most, are for the war.

Oh, and since the war started, Southeast Asia has boomed in Russian holiday-makers. So while their country invades another, its people are tanning on beaches in record numbers.

  • I started a new job a few months ago and was on my first business trip with four colleagues recently. To make conversation I asked if anyone used Reddit.

    • Two dudes had heard of it but never used it.

    • One dude said he uses it infrequently because it’s turned to shit.

    • One dude said fuck Reddit and it’s API bullshit.

    • I said fuck Reddit and it’s API bullshit.

Thats my anecdote. 100% of the people in that car didn’t use Reddit or now hated it. Probably 3 months ago that same car ride would have had three people loving Reddit and advocating it to the other two.

  • Nah, he’s taller than 5’9”, but he’s definitely not the 6’3” he claims to be. Not even close. I’d bet my last dollar that barefooted he’s pretty close to 5’11”.

  • I’m 6’1” (186cm) barefoot and measured. Trump claims to be 6’3” (190cm).

I stood next to a wax statue of him at Madame Tussaud’s, which is famous for its exact replicas, and I was comfortably an inch taller than that statue and it was in heeled shoes (I was wearing flat-soled Connie’s), so Trump is 6’0” max, but my guess is he’s just under - maybe 5’11” (183cm).

  • I attribute my loss of interest in things to social media. My attention span is just cooked.

I’m not depressed. I still deeply want to do the things I love - guitar and gaming are two interests of mine too. I just can’t stay with either for more than 5 minutes without being bored.

And yes, being perpetually tired is your new adult reality. I negate tiredness by hitting the gym for an hour each day. One hour of working out = 5 to 6 hours of unbridled energy for the day regardless of commitment. As I get older though, I get diminishing returns on this as the week goes on.

I also think it’s semi-natural to get more bored and tired as you get older. Technically, we’re supposed to grow up, breed, take care of kids, and die. That’s our deal. No where in there are we supposed to have room for a career, a degree or trade, two hobbies, 10 close friendships, annual overseas trips, and weekends partying. Just my two cents in this area. Not a scientist.

  • Yup. $20 every year.

I just like that it’s there and I’ve used it a lot, and I want it to be there for the next generation.

Plus, they’ve maintained staying ad free, sub free, and bullshit free. I can’t think of another site that’s kept that level of decency.

  • Millions of scritches, scritches for me. Millions of scritches, scritches for free.

  • Err… Venus has one of the most hostile environments in the Solar System. A titanium probe can only survive there a few hours.

    Dumb.

  • Yeah, I read Sapiens too.

Still, I suspect it’ll shift the balance of power away from us for long enough to allow nature to take back some control. As a species we’ve lost our way and we won’t stop until the planet is dead or it wipes us out. That’s the bottom line.

This could be the only planet within a million light years with complex, conscious life and we’re systematically destroying it for conveniences like single serve ketchup.

  • I like to look on the bright side, in that climate change will either wipe humans off the map or send us back to the Stone Age so we no longer have any real impact.

Both scenarios will heal the planet, animals will re-populate, and homeostasis will again be restored. Checks and balances. We’ll just be another animal that that got out of control, which nature corrected, like it’s done thousands of times over with every animal that’s ever been out of control.

A healthy world. I like that outcome, with or without us.

  • People don’t give big business enough credit in this space. Things like this are market tested and simulated long before they are rolled out.

  • Run. I run my ass off.

It’s impossible to think, be stressed, be sad or be depressed when my sole physiological purpose is getting enough oxygen.

  • I was hoping you guys might think I was clever enough to come up with it.

  • I’d guess that 80-year olds couldn’t handle what coke does to the heart.

  • If Biden had half of one tiny, stepped-on bump, he’d die.
