  • Historically yes, but this appears to not exactly be the case any longer.

    Reference https://github.com/fedora-silverblue/issue-tracker/issues/284

There does appear to be a way to do it, from a cursory glance at the above it seems that Fedora and Windows need to have separate EFI partitions, I'm not all that invested though (I don't use these distros nor do I dual boot) so I don't really care to look much deeper.

  • People seem to love bazzite, is it all its cracked up to be?

I'm happy with my lmde htpc/server/gamingrig/clusterfuck so I'm not planning on changing, but I've been in the market for a handheld gaming PC and its been on my list to try.

  • Based on your last paragraph, you might fall in the supernoob catergory. You'll want an immutable distribution, you can't break those Unless you tell it to let you break it.

As a windows user, you'll find familiarity in Fedora Kionite.

If you prefer a touchscreen oriented experience consider Fedora Silverblue.

There's a few other options on the page I'm linking, I haven't tried and therefore can't recommend either of the others.

    Edit 2, electric boogaloo:

OP in your post you state you want Wallpaper Engine to work, unfortunately, you'll have issues there. Depending on what you're trying to accomplish with wallpaper engine you may be able to do the same using KDE Plasma. I personally use a VLC command line call to enable animated wallpapers on my rig, there's not exactly a standard for it on Linux so many of the solutions you find will be clunky. Just remember if you go around messing with your xorg.conf file you need to have a backup of it so you can undo changes easily in a terminal.

You're welcome to DM me if you need assistance.

  • Please confirm that sleep is configured correctly for your hardware.

Read this article from the Arch Wiki then refer to Section 3 after you've familiarized yourself with the content to make the changes necessary.

Many hardware implementations of the various sleep types are borked due to workarounds for the way Windows would prefer to handle sleep. The information in this article should allow you to mitigate this.

  • My Blu Ray player has never been connected to the web, its region free, but doesn't do 4k-BD. My Linux HTPC is configured with an ASUS libredrive, and has MakeMKV installed. The Linux variant of MakeMKV is borked right now, in a good way! The 30 day trial period doesn't expire!

If I wanna watch a 4k bluray I have to rip it and watch it on my PC, because I'd rather do that than get a BD player that needs internet

  • Some people have an addiction to scrolling, thanks to skinner boxes being implemented in all the major social media sites and online marketplaces.

This app manages to fill the niche of a skinner box, with educational content rather than algotrash. This allows people to reclaim their scrolling sessions and reconditoon away from the endless dopamine dripfeed into a more healthy relationship with social media and the internet at large.

  • If you patch your homebrew ROMs with the 80minute cd patch you can load them in pcsx2. In this case I believe you'll have full color regardless of if the ROMs are made for PAL or NTSC

Edit: I actually don't think you have to do this since pcsx2 doesn't do anticipate checks, though you'll probably need access to a PAL bios, which is easy enough to install as a secondary bios in pcsx2

  • I'm most familiar with PS1 Homebrew, its almost all available under the "Net Yaroze" name.

Without a Net Yaroze ps1, you'll need a TonyHAX/freePSXboot memory card to boot the games. TonyHAX unlocks the region by resetting the disc drive into an unlocked state after Boot. As a consequence, this also allows homebrew titles and less than legitimate copies of titles to boot. Don't use this for piracy, that would be iLleGaL.

Archive.org has 3 Net yaroze game jams available, one of which has 83 titles but they usually render black and white. There is also Fromage, a ps1 demake for Minecraft (barely functional, but neat to show friends)

  • You can at least have the gaming!

IA has most games from that era archived and most consoles can be softmodded to play totally legally aquired backups that absolutely are not archived copies of games

  • Gods, plural. But believe is a weird word.

I commune with the ancient gods of my ancestors, whether I believe in them is complicated though. I spent most of my life atheist after the christian church failed to grab me. I learned of my ancestral religion from my great grandmother and my great aunt. Grandma was Catholic on paper but still recognized the old gods. My aunt called herself a druid.

I choose to commune with the old gods because I have to believe in something. I've felt the call of spirit, the gaping void in my heart where spirituality was meant to be, but I do not trust organized religion. I don't trust the churches. I don't trust those who would hold power, enforced by faith, over those who do not know better.

  • I use the Kotatsu android app, available on f-droid (unless it got banned) and github.

Pulls from hundreds of providers. Some of the sites don't work without captcha, so ymmv.

Also, turn off notifications for the app, lest you recieve a hundred notifications about a site needing a captcha.

  • I hope I didn't imply that my practices are the same as in modern Hungary. My practices are entirely my own, developed from what my great grandparents taught me. They immigrated here as children close to a century ago, and were Catholic on paper when they did.

  • The culture in my family that survived americanization is slovak and Hungarian in nature. My mother failed to pass most of the culture her grandmother tried to pass to her, so I'm doing my best to return to my roots.

I commune with the old gods, Mokosh, Veles and Dazhbog. I try to listen to the world and take cues in action from nature. I practice herbalism, rejecting western medicine for most purposes.
