  • In a team meeting I had a while back my lead was talking about making sure we don't get burnout. I asked if our department could trial run a 4 day work week. Their answer was "company won't allow that but if you get all your work done by Friday I won't ask questions if you're not online". Productivity and morale immediately went up. Good leads shield their team from the bullshit thank you

  • What are their thoughts on post op trans women? Because let me tell you, screaming pain in the hospital, pouring blood out my snatch (seriously it was so much), wearing pads every day, intense cramping from the catheter, abdominal pain for months, getting the stirrups and speculum treatment, I sure feel like I'd have 'earned' it by now

  • There's a building in my hometown with this stuff. I have vivid memories of scraping against it on my bike. Over 20 years later my heart still jumps if I pass this dreaded material

  • Depends where you draw the line and the exact product. American cheese is just cheddar cheese, milk, and an emulsifier. The ratio of cheese to milk usually classifies it as "not cheese" but it's still actual cheese and milk. You can make American style cheese with all kinds of different cheeses, too, we just mostly do it with cheddar or a cheddar colby blend

  • I learned how to paint minis in the basement of a hobby shop, basically as small town daycare while my mom worked on the floor above. My very first mini got put on display in that basement next to the work by the person who taught me. It was hilariously out of place. After college I was visiting again, like 10+ years later, it was still there proudly collecting dust. The guy who taught me had apparently recently died and they were going to put a bunch of the stuff in storage since the owner was having an emotionally difficult time seeing it all there. I managed to recover my mini just to be sure it didn't get lost with everything. Now I have it proudly displayed in my room. It's seen a lot of adventures

  • Not this extreme, but Always Sunny I couldn't get past the second episode. Gave up on it until someone told me that I can just completely ignore the first season and start on season two. Actually got into the show like that, never gone back to try and watch the parts I missed

  • At my high school a noticable number of students could barely read. They got passed through from a combination of parents trying to fire people if their kid is held back and teachers who either didn't care or couldn't spend the one on one time to help the kid. There was no functional system in place at my school to help kids who were borderline illiterate

Depending where this is, between that and possible mental health stuff English could be their first language

  • Schools are often where abused kids are able to build trust with adults and actually talk about their home life. Sure there's plenty the school should inform the parents of but some things could do serious damage. If they aren't already, teachers should be getting training on when and how to make that judgement call
