  • For the middle aged white American or...? Even then, the question seems to mean more as words than as an actual inquiry. It's just too big of a question for it to mean anything. 30 years ago different brown people were getting bombed, for instance!

  • If you're in the middle of nowhere, with your small loving tribe, and don't know much about whatever ongoing genocide and needless destruction, or about capitalism and the depraved, Diddy-level hedonism, you might sleep better at night than those who do but also feel powerless to change it. What about having terminal cancer? Wouldn't it be better to just live your last days in happy ignorance? Information is a double-edged sword, basically, and when you know A, you hate A and you also 'know'/feel unable to change A, it's just poison.

  • There are situations in which this will happen, just like there are situations in which women will remain calm while a majority of men will lose their minds (I'm sure there are some male Vs female global statistics on physical violence that show it, lol). No-one is calm and reasonable all the time. 🤷

  • The best way, IME, is to know exactly in which ways these people are mistaken so you can ask the right questions until they're eventually left with untenable conclusions/information that doesn't fit reality. And it definitely helps if you state at all times that you're worried about the person, that you're not doing this because someone's paying you or for the fun of it but out of concern, that you could be chilling or doing anything else but you're here hoping you can get through to them, etc etc. But even then, at any moment they can just have a small 'frustration aneurysm' and leave the path of logic behind... In the end, we can't 'force' people to believe in what we believe in, regardless of how much sense it makes and/or how useful it would be for them; either we're open and clear minded enough to be reasonable or we're not. 🤷

  • "Why am I here" is the question that precedes "Why is ANYTHING here?!", and I think that to answer both (or even consider them as valid questions, as you pointed out!) with any degree of 'objectivity' (because if not you can always just go with "it's whatever you want the answer to be!") you're gonna need to go through that external uncreated intelligence...Y'all know where I'm going with this. 😅

  • Life is/can be very enjoyable, but hedonism in itself is vacuous and ultimately unfulfilling. Make sure your existence is a net positive for the world and at least you'll not only be glad you lived, you'll also be glad YOU lived. Mmmhh. I guess in the end I can't say anything more useful than the Solomonic principle: "fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man". 🤷

  • Being selfless, kind and peaceful even when powerful quite literally goes against the Western ethos and to deny it is to deny not only history but contemporary Western societies as well (from the neverending colonization of the world, native American genocide included, to the recent "empathy is a sin" take, lol).

  • Read: America and most of the West, through Israel, will continue the colonization project of the Middle East that started about a century ago and, although it hasn't always been easy, they're as committed to the genocide, pillaging and displacement in the region as they were when the project started. Empires will empire, the rest is wind and sweet words for the ignorant masses.

  • The OG trilogy was an interesting-enough drama with a vibrant setting, made groundbreaking by their special effects. Everything else in the franchise was made to sell toys, with maybe one or two exceptions. It's not supposed to be taken seriously like that, I think...
