  • Yeah, it's not like Guyana and Suriname are countries with their own immigration laws, that their inhabitants expect to be enforced. They're always ready to accept anyone from a western country that needs a spot to lay low for a couple of years. The same way the US always opened up and welcomed the Guyanese and Surinamese with open arms.

  • Wow, way to try to sound educated while just pulling stuff out of your ass. Under investment in agriculture? Lol. Afghanistan is the major supplier of saffron that Iran should learn from? How about Iran being the producer of close to 90 percent of the total global production. Spreading fake info poisons the information on Lemmy for all. Truly pathetic behavior.

  • Why are you confidently spouting nonsense all over the place? When has Israel bombed an Iranian nuclear site, ever? When you say "every time they make progress Israel bombs them", you should be able to at least name a couple of times that has happened, right? Come on, look it up, you should be able to find at least one case. No? Stop spreading info you've pulled out of your rectum, people like you are the reason nothing online can be trusted. It's poison, so please stfu when you have no idea what you're talking about. This doesn't make you sound smart, it makes you a nuisance.

  • How does the attacked country being a "paper tiger" influence your judgement of whether it's shitty or not to attack it? Is it less shitty to attack a country because it's perceived as being weaker? Is it only shitty when the attacked country is able to defend itself? Why? That would make the Israeli genocide on Palestinians "less shitty" too, since you know, "Israel has been beating the shit out of them for years now."

It's an interesting moral compass you've got there.

  • I'm in the same boat. I do not like defederation. So where do we go? Any other instance with the same openness? I don't know details about instances, but I know I'd like to avoid .world though.

  • I wouldn't say they learned nothing from that war game. They've never done to Iran what they did to the other six of the infamous seven that the Bushies planned to dismantle. I suspect that that war game is a factor in that decision. This thing with the Houthis serves to refresh their memories I guess. At least I hope. Who knows, with this admin, anything can happen

  • They had the same situation in Iran 1979 for example, and the military refused direct orders from the king to fire on the crowds. However, Iran had a conscript military and not the 'professional' thuggery of the modern US volunteer military.

  • Commenting "fuck ACAB nonsense" on a post that clearly demonstrates ACAB is kinda wild. Did you not read how the local PD enabled the ICE thugs by arresting people for "laying hands on federal agents"? Those Cs aren't Bs?

  • Where are all those brave Americans chastising the cowardly Russians for not standing up to Putin's bullshit? What happened? I thought you were all armed to the teeth, and brave as fuck? But now somehow everyone suddenly has become so damn sensible in assessing the threats to themselves personally. I wonder what changed. No longer gong ho about revolution when it comes with personal costs, are we? Who would've thought...

  • I recently tried switching to mint from the dark side, but the instability made me go back to Windows. I'd say everything doesn't 'just work' on mint at all, unless you have the most basic needs in your usage. Whenever I've tried to raise the issues with seasoned Linux user, the answer has been "well, most regular people don't need to do that specific thing".

So if it's true that Mint is the only Linux distro that "just works", then Linux is definitely not even close to being suitable as a mainstream choice. Which really saddens me, as I felt much better on a moral level using mint, but I couldn't live with the little annoyances that kept popping up. So now I live with the annoyances that pop up in windows instead .

  • Ok, thanks for clarifying. So neck beards basically? That's a different type of "beard" altogether, they've always been more reactionary than anything else:-) feel better about my beard now, got a little worried for real.

  • Wait, beards are right wing now? WTF? I thought beards were the sign of soy hipster feminist men, what happened? I was much more comfortable being labeled a bearded soy hipster than I am with a right wing loon label. Being of middle eastern origin, the hipster label is the only 'acceptable' way for me to keep the beard. The distance from a label of conservative right winger to being deemed an islamist terrorist is not very far. Fuck.
