  • Why do I always end up reading so deeply into these threads started by fucking ghouls who seriously believe poor people are poor because they're just too stupid to understand how money works? I should have backed off when I saw how deep this goes, but no, I must hate myself, because here I am, having just read your ridiculous comment how some sort of nebulous "education" will solve poverty somehow. Fuck off until you learn some damn empathy. I hope you end up neck deep in debt through no fault of your own.

  • I agree with your suspicion. Between the op being pretty obvious anticommunist bait and then that asshole arguing in incredibly bad faith about some alleged "10 principles" that supposedly guide all of politics in the dprk, I would guess that the reason this post exists is that people paid to post western propaganda on the internet are here doing exactly that.

  • Yup! It's what finally made me stop watching twitch (embarrassing, I know, I'm more of a gamer than I like to admit). Minutes of unskippable ads, way too often, and no adblocker could get rid of them. The best I could find was a twitch redirect that would block the ad, but it couldn't give you the content back, so when the ads happened the stream would just go dark until they were over. I decided enough was enough and I haven't gone on twitch since. I'm mentally preparing to do the same with youtube if and when they succeed in breaking adblockers. Which is going to absolutely suck, I watch a lot of youtube, but maybe it'll actually be a good thing and I'll be on the internet less.

  • This meme doesn't look to me like a message of support for anyone. It looks to me like criticism of people who say they are anti-war until the US decides it wants to send "lethal aid" somewhere in the world, at which point the supposedly anti-war people are suddenly very much into whatever conflict the US is sending weapons to.

This is a pattern we see over and over again, even in recent living memory. I remember when we invaded Iraq. I remember Afghanistan. We've seen it over the last week or so with the outpouring of support for the genocidal actions taken by Israel. It's a pretty common phenomenon once you've had it pointed out to you.

By the way, what group of deplorable individuals are you referring to in your comment? Do you have a specific group in mind?

  • Could you please restate your question? I don't understand what you're asking

  • Oh shit, sorry, I was drunk and thought I was on hexbear. That's my bad. Oopsie

  • Wait, you think hexbear "gives little regard to class consciousness or worker solidarity"? You think we're only claiming to be socialist? You think we have a "pathological obsession with identity politics"? I would disagree about all of the above, honestly. I will grant you that I'm not a big fan of patriotism, because I live in the imperial core, and there is nothing good about america. Also, could you give me an example of what "lumpen behavior" you think we're defending?

I just realized, I have no desire to get in Yet Another Internet Argument. Please do not answer the above questions unless you really, really want to for some reason. Thanks for explaining your thinking, I very much disagree with you, but that's ok! This is a 2 day old thread at this point and I'm trying to be less of an argumentative butthole online, so I'll just say, I hope you have a great day!

  • They probably thought I was going to make fun of them if they elaborated

I wasn't though, I just wanted to see what they'd say!

  • Radlib isn't one I've heard yet! Would you mind saying a little more about why you think hexbears are radlibs?

  • This actually hasn't been true for several patches now. The slur filter is no longer hard-coded, but instead is customizable on an instance-to-instance basis. This change sure doesn't stop people from complaining about the (nonexistent) "hard-coded slur filter" though!

  • I'd urge you to consider the fact that we are explicitly, radically pro-trans. Our mod team is over half trans people and our userbase heavily skews that direction as well. I myself am trans. And I'm a communist, partially because of the experiences I've had as a trans person living under neoliberalism. I didn't start out as a communist, I slowly drifted that way as a result of learning, specifically learning more history. I'll recommend the podcast Blowback here, I think all 3 seasons are really good, well-researched, informative, and entertaining. They give a lot of context to various US actions abroad and it's a very approachable podcast. Season 4 is coming out soon and I can't wait!

Also, check out Cuba's family code if you want an example of a communist country being extremely socially progressive. It's cool and good!

  • A quick search turns these two up, I swear we have more somewhere though

Edit: found a couple of quokkas, which aren't quite capybaras, but are still pretty cute
