  • One idea I had for diplomacy is to have a triangular battlemap where the corners represent logos, ethos, and pathos, but I'm not really sure what to do beyond that. Should there be some kind of elemental rock paper scissors going on? Or people are just weak to certain types of arguments? As much as I like the idea of making a complicated system for arguments, I'm sure someone else has done it better and I don't know how to find it.

There is Dungeons and Discourse, based on this and this comic. One version here and another here.

  • So basically your mitochondria decides your species?

Personally I like keeping it a little more complicated. It's the same race as the mother, unless the mother is a ditto, in which case it's the same race as the father.

  • If someone is executed for murder, then you definitely shouldn't hire them. But if they served their punishment, letting them out of jail and then not letting them earn the money the need to survive is a recipe for disaster.

  • I was raised Mormon, and had always been taught that if you get to the highest heaven, you'll become a god and make your own world. Only after I left did I find out that that's not actual doctrine and comes from taking something that's supposed to be a metaphor literally. And any details about the church that look bad aren't going to be repeated by mormons, so mormons tend not to know about them.

  • I think it would be awesome to have some scholarly bard who uses the ATU index to classify all the major events. Unfortunately, the ATU index isn't publicly available so you'd have to buy a print copy, then study it enough to recognize when each one happens.

  • Not in D&D. They just need to eat every other day, like anything else that doesn't have enough CON to go longer. I'm not sure how much they need to eat. I'm told there's a table on page 111 of the DMG, but I don't own one.

  • I get that it can be painful. it just seems like it would be less painful than an eternity on the lower planes. And I wouldn't want to play a character that does that sort of thing, but that basically means I can't play D&D without homebrewing a less dark cosmology. If you are playing it with the cosmology they give you, and you're not careful to keep your enemies alive, then you're doing stuff worse than this constantly.
