  • I'm in the military, and whenever one of my Airmen tell me that they're born in 20-- I always have a moment of "...are you even allowed to be here? Did you lie about your age to get in? Do your parents know where you are?!?"

  • (Woman over 30 here) I caucused for Bernie in Nevada in 2020, and he won the state my dude. He also won Iowa, New Hampshire, California, and Colorado before dropping out. Where do you think our love for Bernie is "over inflated"? He had support amongst the people.

  • Wuthering Waves is Hella good. Technically it's an open world gacha game, but I played through all the storyline (the developers will be forever updating the story a la Genshin Impact), and I never spent a dime on it.

Also, I have spent money on Cooking Diary. However, I went about 3 months of daily play before I did, and it was more about me being impatient/telling myself "You got 3 months of daily play, you can drop the devs $4.99". I've played that game just about daily since Memorial Day 2023, and I've dropped $5.00 quarterly. There are regularly moments of infinite lives that exceed an hour or two, that it genuinely isn't necessary. I spend the money more as a "thanks for not making this ducking game contingent on microtransactions, making it good, and maintaining/update it."

  • I read this in Grog's voice and I high key love it. The idea of him describing "surface level themes such as nationalism" is hilarious.

And the title comment is the icing on the cake.

  • I mean, it's still a place I'd tell people to go visit. The bars/restaurants are awesome, and the (not so distant) history is sobering. I found the Stasi museum hella interesting/terrifying.

I'd just mentally prep people before-hand for the, ah, "bluntness" 😂

  • My friend and I just assumed he could tell we were American and didn't want to serve us. We didn't stick around to ask. And he didn't tell us off or to leave or anything, but just more blatantly ignored us.

Like I said, overall still good time. Everyone else was nice and happy enough to chat/serve us (or at least appeared to be lmao)

  • I'm white af, but, as an American, I didn't get treated as rudely anywhere else in Germany than Berlin. Still had a great time overall in the city, but, not really in a rush to go back.

My friend and I were standing at a bar mulling over the menu, just kind of murming to one another over what drinks we wanted while we were waiting for the bartender to finish up with his other customers. It wasn't busy, but he was attending to other people. When he was finally done, he approached us and I said "Hi how are you?" with a smile. He didn't say a single word to us, just took the menus from in front of us and put them on the back shelf, and then turned away.

So we left. Our money clearly wasn't good enough there, and we spent it in another bar across the alleyway instead.

  • Ughhhhhh how the hell does he have a 46% approval rating?!?!? Texans really don't care that he left them to die in the snow.

I'm going to continue to remain optimistic...Allred did flip a historically red district blue and he's retained control since.

But JFC every time I start to have hope for this state, they do something that really makes me wanna throw my hands up and be like "You wanna live in unfettered Christian Nationalism? Fine. Fuck you then and you get what you want." 😮‍💨

  • Bruh I think you've been told 1000x ad nauseum to vote Progressive in the Primaries and locals. The only place where we say to hold your nose and vote Dem is President and Governors because no one votes Progressives in the Primaries and locals.

  • I have a huge crush on Charlie Day as well! I think I'd take him as Dr. Newt Geizsler from Pacific Rim tho. While I am usually like "Daw I love Charlie" in IASIP, there's something about him wearing winter underwear with socks that's an immediate turn off. 😂

  • Tbf this is the first time I've seen Jackson's name abbreviated like that. It took me a second to get hers. But I feel like ACB is fairly common. Then again, maybe her name just jumps out at me immediately because I have a special hatred in my heart for women who turn against women. Fuckin' bitch.

Either way, I wasn't agreeing or disagreeing with the sentiment of politicians using initials for their names or not, just stating whose initials they were.

  • Yeah, my sister bought me the DVD Boxed set a few years ago for Christmas as I was a HUGE Daria fan growing up. I was a little disappointed that all the late 90s/early aughts music was gone and it was replaces by generic "pop punk" sounding music.

Still one of my comfort shows though, and the only reason I can still say I'm "using DVDs" in 2024 😂

  • My husband and I are both here and voting as long as the military forces us to be here. Every election. Local, state, and federal. Blue. Every time.

But fuck, the second my contract says I'm allowed to move, I'm selling my house, fleeing this hellhole ASAP, and will never willingly set foot in this state again. Just saying.

2012 Texas was different than it is today. Not great, but exponentially better. There's been a distinct decline over the past ~decade.

  • I'm actually about to get ICL surgery to correct mine in July @ 35 years old. Pretty stoked to not have to use glasses anymore. Though from what I've been told, it will make those of us who get ICLs more susceptible to early cataracts (like 60 years old or so versus 75, as we all will eventually get cataracts if we live long enough), and I'll need a second surgery at that point for better lenses. But if I'm going to eventually need that surgery anyway to remove a cataract, then what's it matter?
