There's also several contributors who are actively working on improving the settings and adding in new features. I've been proposing a few changes for the mobile UI, letting you change up the mobile layout but all of that things take time (and add complexity) so it's slow moving
Still exciting to be on the ground floor, when every day out week could bring a new update or feature. Wonder how they'll improve over the next 3 months
It's pretty creepy to want to use people's likeness forever, so it can be used for any purpose in the future. It's perfectly fair for these actors to be pissed.
Companies will never do the right thing without being forced to do it, it's just not in their nature. So having strikes and forcing their hand along with regulation is the only real solution
When I started using Matrix I definitely thought "wtf is this", but after 5 minutes and when I got invited to channels it all makes sense. Much prefer the privacy focused matrix
Matrix is a great discord-like experience. From my experience it's got different channels, direct messing and a focus it seems on privacy which is nice. Compared to discord that doesn't even support end to end encryption
Not a fan of celebrity content, but having up and coming people like YouTubers, twitch streamers and others building communities on here feels fine. I think there's a big difference between old mate who's got 100k subs on YouTube wanting to post content and Kim Kardashian who just wants about platform to shitpost onto
Drastically reduced my usage and now spend that time on other side projects / reading. I miss the large volume of comment but don't miss being treated like an obstacle (like how reddit leadership sees their users)
Hard to prove that type of stuff. It could just be incompetent leadership but it's starting to feel like it's something more given how many back to back missteps they've had recently.
The worst part is that some generated AI looks exceptional, so bad actors posting it without saying it's AI art would trick most people, anything for engagement I guess..
I know some people don't like these bots, but I'm keen on the cross posting. Bringing the idea to this platform and then people can discuss it. It's mostly the discussions that have the best value anyway π¦
This is a strange one. I assumed people wanting this type of service would want to view all the content from the fediverse but not push to the fediverse
E.g. start your own instance of kbin and connect with everyone but turn off your own federation so no one sees your posts.
How's the content on Masterdon compared to say Lemmy/kbin? Can always add a new site to my daily doom scrolling, but is it just a collection of people complaining about the smallest slight like on Twitter?
