I was thinking evil more in terms of the system that allows people to be rich and lazy in that manner, then they grow as a family over the course of the show until they are definitely good, but still definitely chaotic.

Ahem: grape jelly is the default because it's cheaper to make and has a stronger flavor, therefore you need less of it as an ingredient. Having said that strawberry jam for the win.

I'd argue it switches over time from lawful evil to chaotic good.
