They already mentioned delaying the first dlc from the planned Q4 2023 release to Q1 2024.

What, how? Are you just leaving the settings at default and giving up? They basically have said what is broken. If you turn those settings off it works alright.

Low income housing is basically a poverty/homelessness backstop. Lower rent than anything else. Completely uneducated or unemployed need it. Nobody else wants to live there, including students. If it has high enough land value that it gets the warning, that likely means that it costs more to live there than in alternatives throughout the city. Which makes it a useless building.

Ive had success with some low income towers shoved into a spot with gaps in service coverage, no parks, high noise, etc.

The low income housing issue you have isnt a bug. You probably put the low income housing in a spot with too high land value or you have too many low income residents and not enough buildings for them. Either of which drives up the rent.

Its not relevant to this particular commenter, but ive made downvote edits when i get to -5 or -10 but have no replies. Especially when i felt like i had a reasonable take. My edit is usually asking for responses from those who disagree, rather than just a "edit: fuck you haters".

Modders have never let these types of things limit them before. Look at mods for games that dont even support modding to begin with. I expect there will wind up being mods on nexus or something for the complicated stuff that consoles don't support.

Its not like it is the only example. The sequel trilogy has plenty of other annoyances just like the prequels and originals do. The problem for many is that palp's death validates the story and actions of the characters. He lives and a new order pops up, then much of what happened was pointless. To me, picking on that line is a way of showing how much of a clusterfuck the story of the sequels is. They are amazing in visuals, acting, etc. Somewhat the polar opposite of their counterparts.

This is what happens when a new console generation comes around. Just because you are on PC does not mean you are exempt from industry norms which are largely pushed by consoles. Your 970 was significantly stronger than the xbox one and the ps4, so you could use it for that entire generation if you wanted. Your 2060 is weaker than the xbox series x and the ps5, so should be no surprise that you use lower settings than those consoles.

Same with ssds. They werent required for so long because the consoles didnt have them. Now they do, and fast ones at that. So devs use them, and sometimes require them.

Now obviously starfield in particular is not a shining beacon of next gen technology and optimization. But those reasons you chose to pick on are not really examples of its failings.

The inputs are mostly the same, so implementing one essentially implements the other. Much like how implementing fsr2 is so similar to dlss and xess. (Which is why these mods came out in a matter of hours after early release)

DF was referring to a question about devs patching old games to add in fsr3 frame gen, as if its some simple toggle for games which may not even have motion vector or optical flow data already exposed.

Red Wing always gets my recommendation. Spend the time to find a pair that fits you really well. Instead of ever buying a new pair in the future, send in your old pair to be repaired. They can resole (in and out) them, repair linings and stitching, etc. As long as the leather itself is still in good shape. Take care of the leather on your own at home and theyll last a long time. Ive had mine over 10 years now.

Yes. Now that all the consoles have ssds, devs are going to design their games around them. That means asset streaming is the norm. And that means hdds will cause massive pop-in and stutters.

Nobody wants exclusion of any technology, thats the entire point. Especially when its been shown repeatedly that once you implement one of the 3 (fsr, dlss, xess) techs, the other 2 take almost no effort to add in as well. So little effort that modders have managed to shove them in to games that exclude them for whatever reason, sometimes achieving it in a matter of hours.

All that said... Dlss is definitely better quality than fsr. "Some people might tell" is an understatement.

Your 3080 cant run frame generation because it wouldn't improve your framerate with that gpu architecture. Just like software dlss wont improve framerate on a 1080.

Nvidia isnt some boogeyman holding back these techs because they just want to force people to buy new cards. They are definitely making tech that only works on the newest cards to try and get more sales, dont get me wrong, but its not arbitrary.

You also get countless other smaller channels that are just large enough to have youtube be their primary income, but small enough where they stay true to their original intent.

Art style, fidelity, and realism are all somewhat separate. Yeah a good art style can make a game timeless. There are countless examples of that. But it doesnt mean that realistic looking games cant have a great art style. I think cohesion is a huge part of what people mean by "art style". Realistic looking games that focus on having a cohesive look can also be fairly timeless. They may not compete with today's fidelity (resolution, technology, etc), but Assassin's Creed, various Battlefield games, Crysis 1, and plenty more all look great if you look at them today.

Theres also the concept of somwthing not realistic, but high fidelity. Minecraft RTX is simply amazing. Taking that already timeless art style and increasing the fidelity doesn't suddenly remove the timeless factor, and i love that. I want more of that. Even if it means i need a fairly beefy gpu for such simple graphics otherwise.

What liability?

Theyre adding every single little thing that they can to reach that value. 401k matching, employer's health insurance, vision, dental, paid time off, those are all big easy ones. But they probably have idiotic values for all the fine print benefits too. Think of free legal advice, financial advice, personal counseling, reimbursements for education opportunities, travel, uniform cleaning, etc etc.

Should it all add up to 100k and be boasted about? No... But of course they will anyway.
