  • I like this idea. I don't know how modern cognitive science corroborates the idea or not.

But just to tuck this away in the thread, not to derail it: I think the point of the text in the image is much simpler, as the last response is meant to make us understand. The real "first thought" is "I'm a bad person." After some reflection and careful analysis, the poster comes around to, "I'm just a teensy bit hypocritical."

We can forgive ourselves for knee-jerk reactions if we put effort into not letting them poison our relationships with the world and other people. I have no idea if that should apply to Mel Gibson.

  • If you can get past its extremely questionable social issues, I've never played a co-op combat game as well designed and implemented as resident evil 5. It forces you to work together in a variety of challenges and unexpected ways. It keeps you both focused on mutual goals. And if you don't work together with situational awareness and effective communication, you will not succeed. I really wish it sold better because I've never seen a company since put as much effort into co-op design except maybe the "it takes two" and "a way out" guy. But those aren't shooters.

  • Because they're not magically taking away his stock shares. If Tesla succeeds so does Musk, no matter what position he holds. Nothing changes when oligarchs who will happily take food out of children's mouths to enrich themselves and send US citizen children with Cancer away never suffer any consequences.

And that's BEFORE we talk about the fact that Tesla cars suck ass now compared to similar segments from competitors. They're a net negative in the industry and in their influence on humanity. EVs are going to continue to take up more market share worldwide without them.

  • Just adding support for this recommendation. I had 4 gaming headsets before this, and got this for about $140 on sale. It's far and away the best sounding headset I've ever used for non-professional purposes. There are two caveats:

3.5mm jack works on most gaming consoles through the controller. And you can get a super cheap and small adapter from 3.5mm to USB-C if you want to use it with phone or other USB-C input. But if you need wireless this won't do it.

They are open back style headphones. Meaning there's a considerable amount of sound leakage into the room with you. Someone sitting next to you can hear every word of your voice chat or phone call. They sound really open airy and have a great sound-stage because of this, but it's not great if you need privacy. They do make the Game One version with a closed back.

  • FWIW, my last phone (until 3 weeks ago) was a OnePlus Nord N20. Absolutely stellar budget phone with a solid mid-range experience and features. It had a headphone jack AND an SD card slot, as well as dual SIM tray if that's useful. I think it's actually higher spec than the N30. You can still find those. OnePlus is pretty good about including a lot of that stuff, except on their flagship phones. Hope that's helpful.

  • I played it back on the PS4. My memory is that I enjoyed the vast majority of it, and was pretty completionist on that one. Mostly because the world and environments are hauntingly beautiful. I enjoyed riding slowly through the world, almost never using travel, and exploring the nooks and crannies. If that's your bag I think you might like it. But The story does go through some contortions to fill out the play time.

  • When we switch to DST, we "Fall Back. ". We set the clocks one hour back, at 2:00am Sunday, so basically we get an extra hour of sleep just on that night. Then we lose one when we set the clocks forward in the spring.

To be fair, I don't think that extra hour, once in the Fall, is used as a reason for Daylight Savings in any debates.
