  • The world would be an objectively better place if someone took this subhuman scum out. Half a fucking trillion dollars and it's still not enough for him. These scumbags always need more and more.

  • I haven't seen Halo Wars mentioned yet so I'll nominate those games. Both 1 and 2 are insanely fun and they control surprisingly well on Xbox if you dont have access to a PC. I've put a couple hundred hours into both games on both Xbox and PC, but I do prefer M&KB controls even if it works very well with a controller.

Cutscenes are fucking awesome in both games as well!

Another game I'd like to bring up is Stellaris. If you're a sci-fi fan and like 4X strategy games then I can't recommend this game enough. I've put 630 hours into the game since I got it back in 2019, being able to role play a custom or sci-fi inspired empire is great. If the amount of DLC puts you off, then look up cream.api. Getting them for "free" is easy.

  • Even as a Protoss main, Wings of Liberty (the free Terran campaign in SC2) is by far the best in the game. I've replayed it at least once a year since it first released. Mass marine/marauder/medic backed by tanks is so much fun to play with.

  • Only because most instances have the common sense to defederate from that shithole. Now they just need to add .ml to the list. Fuck the mods and especially admins of .ml

  • The most important man in Starfleet history

  • Hot take, but people that want 3.5 jacks back are just a (very) vocal minority. I've never met a single person IRL that prefers wired over wireless, I sure don't miss getting my cable snagged on things or just having it dangling around. I have a nice set of wired Sennheisers for my PC and then decent wireless buds I use when I'm out.

The headphone jack is not gonna come back. Buy an adapter if you care that much or just use wireless buds like 99% of people these days. Mine last a full 10 hour shift with battery to spare, a normal 8 hour shift isn't gonna kill the batteries on your buds unless you buy 10$ garbage.

Edit: also the 3.5 jack or cable generally stopped working or got fuzzy/bad connections long before the buds themselves started to go. Had to replace headphones so many times cause the jack got shitty or the cable wore out due to use. Sure the batteries in wireless buds will lose capacity over time but my current pair is over 2 years old and I only charge the case once a week with 40 hours of use per week.

  • To add onto the comments that you've already received, red dwarfs of approximately 0.08 - 0.25 solar masses are thought to be fully convective. So they mix all of their hydrogen fuel down into the core throughout their lives. More massive stars have different layers, the sun has a radiative zone above its core that is so dense it can take tens of thousands of years for a photon to get from the core to being released as light. More massive stars are too dense to mix all the hydrogen down into their cores and so end their lives with a lot of unspent hydrogen that gets ejected during the end of the stars life instead of being used as fuel in the core.

Another fun fact is that it's thought that stars more massive than our sun have an exterior radiative layer rather than a convectional outer layer and so they wouldn't have the "granules" that we see on the surface of the sun. They would instead be one "solid" shining surface.

God I love space. So fascinating.

Someone please correct me if anything I said is wrong, I'm merely an amateur space nerd and not a professional.

  • Just block the shots with your big banana ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

  • Have you tried UwU'ing at them?

  • I don't use twitter (never have tbh) so I've only ever seen screenshots of his more infamous tweets, but I have listened to a LOT of his startalk podcast. Most of the time he's an entertaining person and seems to admit when he doesn't know enough about a given subject (although I've seen a lot of criticism that he does tend to talk about things he doesn't know, it doesn't seem to be that way in the podcast at least)

He can be annoying in some of his podcasts though and you can feel his guests being diplomatic about it while still hearing a bit of annoyance in their voice or next sentence etc. But overall I rather quite like him, despite the Internet's disdain for him.

More people making science popular and easily digestible is always a good thing IMO. But I'm also biased because I've really liked NDT since I was a kid due to seeing him in space documentaries when I was young, and I still love his version of Cosmos.

  • We dumb

    Jump
  • You are going to wake up to realizing you know nothing about everything.

I wish I had your optimism about humanity.

  • No it came out just a few years ago, I was just reading about it in Nintendo power the other day! God Twilight Princess is gonna be so sick when it finally comes out!

    Right?

    Right guys?!?

  • Suppressed by the people in power. It's better for them if we fight over culture war bullshit and that's (IMO) why the right pushes so hard against things being "woke" or "dei" or whatever new scary buzzword those dumb fucks come up with.

We're too busy arguing amongst ourselves to realise we should all be looking up at the corrupt rich. But with bought off media and the ability to push propaganda at a previously impossible level just a few decades ago, a ton of the population is kept perpetually angry because non-white/straight people have the audacity to exist.

I'm a native (aka native American/indigenous however you want to call it) and over the last few years I've noticed people are increasingly comfortable showing their racism. I get followed around in stores while I'm shopping for groceries occasionally, I get managers staring me down because I took too long looking around and they think I was trying to steal and that my debit card will be declined, people happily making small talk with others and then blankly staring at me and saying nothing to me even when I'm being pleasant to them etc. All anecdotal of course and I could just be getting more bitter as I get older, but it honestly feels like a trend to me.

I've been dealing with that shit since I was a teen, you always get judged just for having the audacity to be born the wrong skin color anywhere but it's (anecdotally) gotten much worse over the last few years, which just so happens to coincide with the rise of the right all over the world.

I really hate the world sometimes tbh.

  • Can confirm.

  • Asking this question on lemmy is like going to a Linux comm and asking if it's a good idea to switch from windows to Linux. You're preaching (asking?) to the choir.

That said, eat the fucking rich.

  • I live in a small territory in northern Canada, and we ditched DST a while ago now and my phone and every computer I've used has support for our miniscule population's decision to ditch that garbage.
