  • The “preview” for the chat feature requires the app or edge on desktop currently but I do find myself turning to it every time I get frustrated with a google search these days.

Less disappointing is probably the best discrimination as you said.

  • If it isn’t open / free / private there is a % of the community that will not even try it.

Just like on Reddit lots of negative energy in some subs.

Hardly saying bing is amazing only that lately I have been drawn to trying it more since the chat based search that allows follow ups in natural language.

Google bards equivalent is only available in the US and just this last week the UK so I can’t try it out.

However over all I agree that more and more google search results have more adds and the good results pushed further and further down.

  • More and more I have been using the Bing “chat” search. It does a search, filters through the results and summarizes the answer with links to the sites it found them on.

For certain types of search it is a huge time saver of scrolling through results to find answers on various pages.

Over all bing search it self isn’t bad.

  • it isn't just /c/memes looking at the global feed I felt like I was blocking meme related communities for a while yesterday.

I think the core app needs some simple text filters for communities and posts or hopefully some of the client apps will implement that a number of the meme subs at least have the word meme in their name.

Same could be said for NSFW subs, but we at least have a global toggle for those at if they have been correctly tagged.

  • Needs more mature identity security, spam protection and moderation tools.

I generally browse only my subscriptions which is fine but every time I go into browsing all I get hit with memes and all sorts of random crap so I am constantly blocking committees to clean up the feed.

  • More that I just don’t spend as much time playing games these days.

I really like it however as it is one of a few games in my collection I can just randomly play for a few min and leave or hours at a time.

  • If you don’t hate Twitter, Reddit, Threads you must love them and are the enemy.

Lots of us vs them hate on this platform like many others. You arnt allowed to have a nuanced opinion or conversation about some things.

  • When I press the button I want all of the blinds to raise/lower at the same speed.

Not even my ikea ones that are all the same size / model rise exactly the same as the start signal from Zigbee sometimes gets to one before another. They go up at around the same rate but start a little off from each other.

  • Security/OS updates: 4 years on typical android at this point (fair phone claiming 7) 5 on an iPhone.

I did a battery replacement on my iPhone 7 at about the 3 year mark and got another 2 years out of it. Full updates from apple and 100% App Store app compatibility that whole time.

  • Having it do a search then summarize the content from the search in one step is really handy. Basically skips the step of regular search oping a bunch of the links looking for relevant info.

AND it provides the source / references so you can easily click and read the actual page the info came from.

  • Some games did transparency by alternating frames which on interlaced sets would draw every other line per frame or something along those lines.

Those effects do not appear in screenshots or generally on any progressive scan modern display without specific emulation

Some examples : https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=y6NLXga1i0M the first two look horrible but the third shows the blending more like how it would have originally appeared.

  • A lot of games depend on a CRT for color blending / smoothing / transparency effects. I actually don’t really like how nearly all 8 / 16bit games look on modern displays, filters generally don’t do a good enough job emulating the look.
